2018 Trials

Egan was 7 at times. From what I remember he was a 7 and moved due to Cleary.

Keighran was at dogs half or hooker. Katoa has played 5/8th too but usually in these games NSW Cup guys will come on. Some low on the bench will play there too. So to get decent game time

Oh the dogs. That explains that. I'm so keen to see how it goes. Like I said I honestly think these trials are more important than normal. Griffin’s contract will likely hinge on this season regardless what people here think of him. Gus won't take the hit to his reputation lightly.

Some say Panthers have no depth.

Sivo looks a great prospect, but many have dominated at lower levels and haven’t kicked on.

The depth issue in the outside backs is more to do with experience. Sivo is very raw, hence we’ll likely have to see one of our centres shifted to the wing early on.

We’ll also have to apply for a special dispensation to use Sivo as he likely won’t be in our top 30.

Also some of these tries in the video are from Ron Massey Cup, that’s the step below NSW Cup.

Even lower a few are Sydney Shield.

We have to lodge our top 29 by 1st March. So still a chance to fix the balance both those wingers named should be in top squad. Throw in Martin out should be Hetherington, Tui-Loso and Bryce

IMO it's not who Sivo played against,it was how he looked. Balance, swerve, step, speed and fend.

He looked like a thoroughbred on that tape and in the games we saw him in the latter part of the season. And he does have a good football nous about him too.

Griff and Gould will do well to hang onto him. Maybe some of that Carty money might be thrown his way.

He looks brilliant with the ball in hand. Haven't seen the guy tackle anyone yet though.

Mansour will be tough to keep.

DWZ could finally have a breakthrough year and land a role elsewhere. Really hasn't taken off the way I thought he would of.

DWZ just signed a 3 year extension, although that doesn’t mean a huge deal.

If we do lose Mansour we should be able to keep Sivo.

Only 3 days to go! Even if it is only a useless trial it'll be so good to see the boys run out. I'm probably a bit more keen because I don't get to see the young blokes play much around my work schedule. That Sivo highlight real looks beastly and Egan comes with the biggest recommendations. Also keen to see Ellis(pretty sure I've seen him play before)

Yes always good to see all 3 grades have a hit up. Always good to see them play the next grade up and what they have

These guys are why releasing guys like Hiku was a good call. Whether they are FG ready is the doubt I have. Cap space and NSW Cup backline spot not wasted is good. Whether we should of got an outside back in maybe

Was a big Peta Hiku fan but he never kicked off at Penrith. Injuries played there part but we didn't see the best of him.

I think you'll find most will argue that he should never have been signed in the first place as opposed to being released. Its left us a bit short but I'm confident we will find somebody to take a wing spot. Centre on the other hand...

Seems to me he was a panic signing for when Blake was ordinary in 2015.

I guess we can always move DWZ in. Outside of him I guess May and Cartwright are next in line.

I guess we have 12 months to find a backup for when Peachey goes

Idris leaves and the club thinks we need an established player rather than developing one. Nevermind the representative players in the other 4 backs positions.

We then develop 2 better centres than Hiku. Thats what shit me back then. Paying good money to sign a player when we had several options with potential to be as good or better.

Obviously the Jennings boys never kicked on. But had Hiku and/or Whare not been injured Blake never gets the chance to be our become centre. Although hes not as good as Whare 2014 yet.

I've actually been impressed with Crichton when I saw him play last year as well. A lot stronger than i thought he was. He may be in front of Sivo in the pecking order as well.

He was playing prop a few games in NYC 2016 so very strong but high ball is an issue. Who knows maybe he fixed it over the off season if so those 2 should be neck and neck. Crichton does the basics better but Sivo's pace and footwork is amazing

Is Crichton the winger that scored one of our few tries in the second 9s team we sent over? I think 2015.

I remember a nobody at the time chasing a random kick to score a try against maybe Storm? We lost the game. But whoever it was had ridiculous pace.

Probably not him. Thats a few years ago now.
