Sportsbet have Aus at $1.37.
Im shocked that Australia are thaty short. If the weather is fine, I expect that price to lengthen. Root is well and truly in dig-in mode and will be tough to dislodge from here. Like him or hate him, Stokes is a big match player and is dangerous to have around. A great night of cricket coming up either way.

I think you have to call it advantage to England. Tomorrow is without a doubt the biggest of the series if the weather is clear. A win to Australia pretty much gives us the Ashes. A win to England would give them a massive boost as it would be one of the great wins in test history considering their first innings score was only 67.

Tonight is the make or break day of this series. Who ever wins the day will win the series and the Ashes.

lol they still need over 200 runs, one every wicket tonight and things change very quickly. We also have a new ball up our sleeve. We just need captain Clueless mark Ii to hold his nerve and make them work much harder for there runs.

100% agree with you, and can't understand why several members on this thread have thrown in the towel. 209 runs is still a long way to go at test match level. The first 20 overs of the new ball will be crucial, and maybe our only chance of ripping through the England middle order.

OT, Denly's 50 was the flukiest I've ever seen at test level. He looked like getting out so many times. No surprise after I went to bed that Hazlewood was the bowler who got him out, as he was the only bowler that looked close to getting a wicket with the old ball, and did get some reverse swing which is promising.

Pattinson and Cummins need to work on their bouncers. Compared to Archer's, most of theirs go way above the shoulders.

2 runs of 50 balls for Ben Stokes

LOL at all this paranoia of him going to score a quick ton like he did at Lord's. With England's Ashes chances on the line and 2 full days of play to go, he can't afford going into T20/ODI mode without losing his wicket and incurring the wrath of the coach.

Root and Denly are pulling our pants down. This is unbelievable. If they get within 200 and still are only 8 down, they become favourites. Our bowlers are the biggest frontrunners and they only dominate when the opposition are already mentally broken. They have nothing to break upon a game when batsmen aren't giving wickets away. Lyon especially.

We got dis!

Is Lyon there to get wickets or just waste overs to give the quicks a rest?

Lyon ran riot on a day 5 Edgbaton pitch that looked like most pitches India used to dish up back in the '90s.

But on a pitches that don't offer much turn, Lyon's been found wanting in too many games and the batsmen play him with consummate ease, which is a worry when he's the specialist spinner in the side. The fact that he's flattened the trajectory of most of his deliveries in this and the previous test is due to lack of confidence.

Geez there’s some bed wetters in this thread
Root is still there and looks to be back in form. Stokes has been their best batsman so far in the series and he can go with him. Then they have a long batting lineup still to come. Their number 10 averages 20 with a test ton. Bairstow/Buttler/Woakes/Archer/Broad are all capable of 30+ runs with one of Root or Stokes on the other end.

It is a 50-50 proposition at best. If Root and Stokes both get their eye in tonight then money would be on England.

Put the house on Australia there is no way England will win. Root promises so much but rarely delivers.
He will be out in the 1st 5 overs. The only way Australia will lose if something extraordinary happens.
