Ashes retained. IDGAF. 2-2 a fair result for such derpy merkins playing, umpiring and administrating the game.

I, for one, can't wait for the NZ series.

That's a great win for England.

Sure we didn't regain the Ashes but to remain undefeated at home to Australia for what will be two decades and counting is an immense recording to be proud of.

Well done Davey

Less runs than jack leach

You’ve had a record series

Looks like the feeling in Warnie’s water, the vibe Langer had etc were right, you DID have an unforgettable series

Tim Paine gave away two tests to England. This series should have ended 4-0. He has to go.
The selectors with their bullshit selection of Siddle ahead of Pattinson or Starc failed badly too.
Warner, Bancroft, Khawaja and Harris also failed badly.
Lyon, Wade, Head, Pattinson, Starc and Siddle met expectations.
Smith Labuschagne, Cummins and Hazlewood excelled.

You need more than 4 players to build this team around and when the captain isn't one of those 4 you have a recipe for turmoil.

5 more games of Paine.

Lets face it, he'll be given the home summer. Will announce his retirement during the NZ test series. Probably on the eve of the third test.

Nah piss off now.....He's regained the ashes. Let that be his crowning achievement.

Surely we can find another keeper who can score more than 10 and not drop sitters.

And anyone would be a better captain than him.

100% and after the footy last night I had literally no care factor for England beating us in a meaningless game.

Would've been nice to win but we're coming home with the Ashes so f**k em.

And yeah, while we made the wrong call at the toss, there seems to be an awful lot of attention on the scapegoat around the net this morning, and not very much on the fact that we dropped Root on just about single figures first innings and Denly on dick all second.

Those two scored 151 between them having been dropped. So yeah, we should have batted. But you can't blame the toss when you can't catch sitters.

Especially when the one dropping him is the wicketkeeper.

Yep
If you are only making mid 200s innings scores you can't afford any mistakes in the field no matter how good the bowlers are

Two even bowling attacks, two ordinary batting line ups, remove Smith from our team and we virtually lose every test, remove Stokes from there batting lineup and they struggle , 2 all probably a fair result.

Their batting line up is better than ours. Our bowling lineup is better than theirs.
Was 2-2 a fair result.
Well considering the rub of the awful umpiring, the atrocious captaincy from Paine, the dazzlingly bad selections and Smiths concussion I don't think you can say it's a fair result.

What you can say is that this was the worst performance by an Australian side in the UK for 30 years.

Yep agreed. We shouldve won the 3rd test and we blew the 5th one away with poor selections.

I get the selection of Marsh as the extra bowler but it was pointless not picking Starc and using another right arm medium in Siddle. Crazy selection that.

As for the batting, those ones you mentioned need some practice against swing bowling. I dont think we've had an Ashes series where the openers have failed to get a 50 run let alone 100 run partnership.

Im not sure what difference it wouldve made if they stuck with KP and Burns but I feel those blokes were unlucky not to tour.

Head and Wade will be certainties in the next series.

As for Smith and Labuschagne, we'd be screwed if those blokes didnt play this series.
