Interesting theory the wait until until 2021 to get IC but I disagree it would twist Tigers in knots. Potentially the greatest thing in the world for Tigers. The way i see it would be.....

1. Panthers screw themselves out of the greatest two years of their "premiership window" with a caretaker coach who's heart will not really be in it, Two years wasted where as great players will be coming off contract, getting raided by other clubs and wondering if being mucked around for two years because a mans love for his son is worth it.

2. Tigers keep Ivan for two more years to keep up the good work he has already started at the club. Ivan works hard and professionally or else risks his professional career.

3. Tigers make a bid to extend the contract of I Cleary. If it works great if it doesnt, it doesnt and that would pretty much guarantee Tigers lose IC for 2021.

4. Tigers make a massive bid for N Cleary. If it works great if it doesnt, it doesnt and that would pretty much guarantee Tigers lose IC for 2021.

5. Tigers have two years to find the best coach available. Get the best. Announce the coach early in season 2020 so the new coach effectively has 12 - 18 months to recruit new players and get the systems in place before IC leaves.

6. Once the new coach is in place and announced early 2020 ensure that IC does not get a release until the end of his contract.

I honestly think this scenario would be great for the Tigers, we effectively have 2.5years to plan for the future, meanwhile Panthers would be swimming in quicksand for two years all for the sake of the Cleary's. Sounds like a recipe for club harmony to me.

On the contrary Ciraldo loves the club and players. Nathan wouldn't consider leaving qith Ivan locked up for 2021. No quicksand whatsoever meanwhile Tigers have issues recruiting because players know the coach is leaving and you'll have to rebuild in two year again.

Im sure Ciraldo. loves the club, probably a good coach. Panthers would still have a caretaker coach for those two years and effectively all of Panthers players whose name doesnt end in Cleary have had their careers have been put on the slow burner for two years.

Tigers would have zero issues recruiting, would probably be better and easier. Tigers would have 12-18 months to plan. We could sign a coach tomorrow for 2021 and tell all prospective players who our coaches will be for the next 5 years. Hypothetically, ring player X, "Gday X, yep Michael Maguire/Bennett/Siebold/Robinson will be coaching us and we are interested, you can come and talk to him and he can put in place an 18 month plan for you".

Panthers keeping players in your scenario might be a stretch.

You know Ivan developed most of this squad and so has Ciraldo right? The players would be as happy as. We'd be the best placed club in this position in the history of the game.

Then why do they want Cleary?

Anyway Im not here to cause a problem. i think the scenario that has been painted is pretty crap, but it would hurt Penrith more than the Tigers. I actually think it would be great for the Tigers. Cleary was probably always going to leave at theend of 2020 unless he jagged a premiership or something ridiculous.

I don't think you are a problem. Just engaging with you on the topic. I can guarantee we'd be fine. Not sure on Tigers.

Tiger5150, I wish your club well, but you're fantasizing about any problems in the Penrith camp. We have options left and right as they say. I'd actually prefer not to have Ivan at all, at least not next year. Ciraldo will be fine for this year. Wayne B might be a perfect fit for a fixed 2 year term. I'm sure the coaches and players would benefit .

Nah Im not fantasising about problems, nor do I think you guys have massive problems. I just think the wait until 2021 for Ivan plan doesnt really suit Panthers either. If you are going to sack your coach, with the squad you have, you should be hitting the deck running.

I was about to say the same thing. Bennett as a caretaker coach...cool!

I know which side of the fence I prefer to be on

There’s no way the WT keep IC until 2021 if he tells them he is leaving then.

IC would spend 2020 worrying who will be playing for the Panthers the following year.

They potentially miss out on signing a descent coach and their program is basically on hold for 2 years.

Mean while, we sign Nathan long term, either sign Benny for 2 years or CC keeps coaching (which won’t bother the players as they love him.)

I feel sorry for the Tigers, but there isn’t much of an upside there for them.

Surely they would cut there losses, release IC and try and sign Madge or someone.
