I get the feeling there was a number of bs stories put out over last couple of weeks to try and divert media columns away from player misbehaviour! Turner, ten team playoffs, relocations etc.
For people who are supposedly engaged with the game, I don't understand how you don't look at the story in its context and then pass comment.

He merely mentioned that next year is the 30 year anniversary of the Simply the Best campaign and that they'd be doing something to honour that milestone.

She may turn 80 years of age in November, but Tina Turner has left a lasting effect on footy in Australia - and the NRL have set their sights on a reunion.

Footage of Winfield Cup stars smashing it at training, with Turner's What You Get Is What You See blasting, formed the backdrop for the 1989 season, which was best remembered for that grand final between Canberra and Balmain.

Turner and the NSWRL ramped it up with Simply the Best, which remains one of the defining sports advertising jingles some 30 years on.

In 1993, she performed the song at the grand final, and hearing the crowd singing along is just one sign of how everything took off.

For NRL boss Todd Greenberg, the chance to "recreate" the Turner heydays of marketing have seemingly been too good to ignore.

"Next year marks the 30-year reunion since Simply The Best... there is an opportunity for us to recreate something," Greenberg said at The Courier Mail's season launch in Brisbane on Monday.

It set tongues wagging, and last month, NRL commercial boss Andrew Abdo told News Corp that Turner's lasting impact on rugby league in Australia deserved the proper treatment.

Abdo said the NRL needs to think of "something cool around Tina" to mark the 30-year anniversary of Simply The Best.

"People still love her and the commercial... we will certainly be honouring her in some capacity," Abdo said.

"She doesn't travel much these days so it would be hard to bring her out here but we'll be looking at something special.

"We sure haven't forgotten her contribution to the game."

Huge yikes.
I'm assuming that this number is just for the General Public as only half the stadium is ticketed available for non-trust/roosters members. The other half is for members, with the trust having the most capacity with the pavilions and majority Bradman stand. So i'd assume currently a prediction of low to mid 30's.

I’ve seen more broncos fans in Melbourne today. The lone storm wearing fan was homeless.

To clarify - not suggesting that there will be more Brisbane fans at the ground at all. Just so shocked at the lack of interest.

I suppose the traveling AFL fans who fly to Brisbane for games must be shocked too.

Maybe Melbourne fans are at work and not wandering around the city centre? Lol

They will be out in force at the ground. It’s Melbourne. Accept things are different down there.

Most would be wondering who all these fat short people in maroon and yellow clothes are and when did Charlie and the chocolate factory part 2 start filming in Melbourne

Until it's within 2-3 hours of game time there's rarely anyone around in sports gear in Melbourne. I think you're overstating the importance.

I think its more that its a Thursday and people work, kids are at school, and if they're not working they're probably at home and not wandering the cbd

I'm down here working and rest assured - I've seen plenty of purple getting about. Amongst F1 fans also.

I might even head to the ground for a look.

They really need to make that main stand opposite the camera cheaper! Move the Storm supporters club into it at least!
