Fri nights at locations like Gosford or the Gong have to deal with this sort of traffic every Friday. Doesnt take much for an accident to gridlock the roads and over 50% of the time it does

This looked a pretty bad accident, multiple vehicles, a truck in flames, two people dead. Not taking this accident into account yes it doesn't take much to gridlock traffic, a minor accident or even some places in Sydney it can be a car illegally parked in a clearway.

Noticed many kids this week are in or around end of semester exams/major assessments

Not to mention its a work day just on the eve of financial year end

Football is something I enjoyed doing on a weekend. With only 25% of our games on Sunday afternoon and these are usually poor rating matches, people are giving up on attending games.

I have no interest in ThNF or Fri 6pm games and usually record these games and watch on delay. Getting home at midnight makes you useless at work the next day when you have to get up at 5am

I stopped going to the cricket and SOO because of ticket pricing

And we are all sick of the SOO hype and impact it is having to club games. Its only a corporate event piss up. I got weird looks after attending one SOO corporate function when I left at full time to begin my 2h journey home by public transport as I was working the next day

Modern RL is just a TV product

Trying to sell fans Touch Football as a 3 game experience is a insult to fans intelligence

Absolutely correct! The Thursday night has reduced the build up and anticipation for fans for their weekend footy fix. I can tolerate the Friday games. Would love to see Thursday night game done away with and another FTA tv game on Saturday evening or even Saturday afternoon. Just bought some tickets for Knights v Broncos game. Should be good tomorrow at 5.30pm . Very family friendly time for their footy fix!

The crowd last night at WSS and atmosphere looked ordinary.
And the 6pm tonight and the crowd at Wollongong looks terrible.

To be fair mate, and at some stage us Sydneysiders are going to have to admit this. Sydney fans just can't be f**ked attending games in big numbers. Last night, with two Sydney teams at a brand new stadium, should have been more. Way more. Sure, Thursday night ain't great but it wasn't even the 9800 crowd they claimed. Way under that. GWS figures claimed.
Tonight at WIN is just as embarrassing. A car crash. FFS. There's always Bulli Pass.
It's well past the time that us NRL fans try and protect our shitty crowds.
It's a cultural difference between us and other states, and tbh, I don't really know what the answer is to fix it.
We just can't defend our shitty crowds anymore, no matter how many excuses are thrown up.

A double fatality which closed the freeway which is largely a one-road in, one-road out city.

One player had to commandeer a motorbike and leave his car on the side of the freeway to make it in time.

Not just "a car crash" on this occasion.

I'm sympathetic to the situation. Awful for the families of all those involved. An awful situation which I saw on the news. Just a terrible, sad, event. I mean that.
I'm just not going to cop it as being an excuse for such a shite crowd tonight.

Issue is never good when it occurs and tonight doubly so

But Gong and Central Coast are commuter based communities with really only 2 roads in and out. Freeway and old road

Even on a good day the Friday night commute is the worst day to commute

Even by train regular commuter trains from the city only get there from 6pm to 7:30pm

Just a scheduling botchup that doesnt allow for known regular issues

Haha. A car crash

Bulli pass was an option if you wanted to wait 3 hours in a traffic stand still. Not sure what sane person would want to do that

I agree. But if you were heading to the game, it would probably be your only choice, so wouldn't you stick it out if you wanted to attend?

I agree, but it happened around 230pm and to my understanding traffic is still kinda heavy so unless you live under a rock you would have heard about it comin from Sydney or wherever to save the trip

How do you propose those that were stuck in traffic get there?

Fly?
