Good business does not destabilise an existing and longstanding market advantage ( in this case longstanding and popular - Australia wide clubs). Northern Sydney is still an ongoing problem for the code . One club north of the Harbour bridge to the Central Coast leaves the code in a precarious position. Thankfully Manly are doing well. Newtown is a well promoted and targeted home game experience. Very local and cultural but will not be general knowledge in the big picture. Still a good thing but not main culture . Perhaps it could be seen as a sub culture.

So why can't Norths do what Newtown are doing? You said people don't support the second teir but that is clearly not the case at Newtown.

Totally different scenario! The isolation of just Manly Warringah in a population north of the Harbour bridge of 1.2million to the Central Coast is a massive issue for the relevance of the code in this region.

The "sellout" boasts were on Fox League and channel 9 commentary on Friday night BIG Sports Breakfast mentioned the sellout on Friday.morning as well. The footy show also mentioned the sellout on the Sunday.

Didn't come from the club. Club needs to control the messaging better and why they didn't nip those claims in the bud is confusing.

Either way for that fixture it's actually quite a decent crowd - but yes could have been a fair stretch better.

Community footy has had resurgence in Melbourne as well, but it is the third tier (local footy) not second (VFL).

I'd like to know what it is, in preference to Cowboys, Storm, Titans who have also played at Bathurst in recent years. Maybe because its marginally closer to Canberra but the trip would take just as long across a lonely winding mountain road.

Funny thing is Norths probably could pull similar crowds to Newtown, but due to the Norths Collective owning 4 high end Leagues clubs anyone interested is already sinking tins at one of their establishments.

They announced 8972 which is their tradition but the official crowd was 9500.

- That was the best crowd at Henson since 1973 and probably (I am just guessing) the best second tier crowd in RL ever and eclipsed many NRL crowds this year...

Being slightly pedantic, but Toronto vs Swinton in the Championship drew 9562 this season, again a better crowd than a lot of the Super League attendances this season.

The Womens' Challenge Cup final had over 4k in attendance at the weekend, which is a hell of an achievement for a competition only in its 8th season that was largely unknown until 2 years ago.

Well, for a start the NRL and Nanny State Government would never let you have a beer festival at a game.

It’s all too uniform and prescriptive at the top level. Creativity is frowned upon.

You didn't answer the question. Why can't North Sydney create the atmosphere and crowds at games that Newtown and the Shute Shield can? There is nothing stopping them. Your claim that people don't support anything other than the top teir is being shown to be false by real-life examples.

We took one to Adelaide too.

Still I think 4 games taken elsewhere whilst the SFS is rebuilt is right but at the same time understand that we have a contract with SCG trust.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the Roosters next year, not a 100% certain but i'm sure the Adelaide deal was for 3 years and if so it has run its course then, maybe they might negotiate a new deal for Adelaide, I have heard a mention that they are looking to take a game to Perth next year but not sure how true this is. Beside magic round I would like to see two games go up to Gosford with a reasonable space between both of them. Talking about grounds up to NRL standard, I'm certain a few of the grounds the Titans played at during the Commonwealth Games weren't anywhere near NRL standard, I reckon they could get away with playing one game at North Sydney Oval, I think where North Sydney Oval would fall down is the lack of corporate facilities and the cost of providing extra temporary corporate facilities would probably out way the benefits of moving a game there.

4 Pines is owned by CUB (owned by multinational AB InBev), which is being bought by Asahi. Very few craft brewers are independently owned.
