I agree that ANZ is terrible, but doesnt make make the suburban grounds good...

30k seaters with decent facilities in a well connected location clearly trumps all of them.

All clubs need to do is join together and guarantee +25 games a year. The gov has made it clear they will fund stadiums with several home teams

The localism of suburban grounds does have its plusses. Agree with stadiums like WSS however home ground advantages and direct community presence and links are important culturally to Sydney clubs. A balance can be achieved I suppose.

Looks like Penrith stadium can be extended to a 25000 capacity stadium with an upgraded Eastern stand and another on an end. Let's hope so. It's worth it!

Won't get funding without another sport but if a $25m academy can be paid for the same can be for an extra stand if needed

Still another 8 that you can get to. You can't genuinely expect teams to avoid a slot like that, especially one that sits at the top of the ladder so frequently.
I work also and sometimes my roster isn`t footy friendly. Dam it.
. how many games do you get to?.would you drive interstate to watch your team

Used to attend 30-40 games a year (neutral and my own team). Now I only get to a handful of games as I live interstate.

The point I guess I'm making is that no schedule will suit everyone

Eastern Stand needs to be replaced!

And there in lies the problem. For Penrith to be of a high nrl standard it would need a similiar upgrade to what nib had with a new decent side stand and an end stand.
That cost $100mill a few years ago. How will they ever fund that?

Such a shame that nsw Govt didn’t take a more visionary view for its sports clubs and build a 35k allianz and use the $400Milion savings to sort out manly, Penrith and Shark park. That would have really sorted the nrl out in Sydney for decades to come.

Plans are drawn up for a stadium. Pretty much same as GC. I guess it comes down to how much the club puts in itself. Originally a greater west stadium was announced but went cold.

Whether they use the current land or move out towards the airport is the question.

What I meant with Penrith being ok is it has been regularly updated.

Has a big screen from Subiaco etc. The club pays nothing on the lease but pays for upkeep. So doesn't have the Brookie issue of randoms ruining it.

No reason it won't be suitable until the rumoured 2025 open date for the new stadium

Manly, Sharks and Panthers can't use a Central stadium and improve crowds. So other things need to be looked at to keep them all in their area
They are all council or club owned grounds that host one team. I don't know how anyone can justify $300M+ for one team. Penrith should have pushed for WSS to be built in Blacktown!

And improve the bottom line. Bigger modern stadiums do that. (within reason)

Depends though. Using WSS as an example. How many people will go into Parra Leagues as a result? Why would a team want to help a competitors bottom line? That sort of stuff is why teams won't move entirely

Once it is open we will see teams moving more and more games there.

Agree. That's why suburban grounds are still very relevant. A smart balance needs to be used.
