2019 Crowd Watch

Knights fans travel to Sydney, and by taking the Cowboys game to CC, you get an uptick in crowd due to locals going to the game.

If the Knights game is moved to CC, yes it get's a good crowd, but the game against the Cowboys in Sydney would have a much worse attendance.

It seems illogical, but there is a rational logic to it.

How many are paying spectators or made up

Cumberland Throw is massive wanker but the Swans have a very strong supporter base, in particular in the North Shore. They have abandoned the Waratahs and the Bears are long gone.

The Roosters are taking their game against Cowboys to Central Coast stadium and one week later they are playing the Knights at the SCG why wouldnt they have taken the Knights game to Central Coast instead. It would probably sell out.

Because we are 0-5 against the knights there.

They should just play 6 at Central coast this year..

Going to be some howlers at scg..

A swans crowd may actually beat a rooster crowd by 700% during this year
Ok Cumberland stormcrow...
You are right some crowds at the scg are going to be horrible. But The roosters are far from our most popular Sydney team and don’t even seem interested in growing their supporter base.

The Broncos aren’t immune to the Thursday night game.
Are clubs compensated for Thursday games or is that in the form of a $13m annual grant?

No no no suburban grounds are to blame for bad crowds not awful Thursday night time slots and poor weather.

Only a fool would think they aren’t part of the issue. broncos faced two of the issues tonight. Dragons faced three of them last Thursday and two of Sydney’s biggest clubs drew 10k. If they had drawn 15k plus I’d agree suburban grounds don’t impact crowds but it wasn’t close.

a perth rugby league game tonight would get under 10k

I’d expect so. Maybe in one hundred years like Souths and roosters have had we could expect a few more though? Or maybe we can entice some afl fans along, they don’t seem so adverse to going out on an Thursday night?

70k at the MCG tonight, Thursday night strikes again. Would have been 140k if the game was on a Saturday.

I was living in Melbourne in 2006 when Collingwood and Richmond were mid-pack and on a waterlogged drizzling miserable sunday they still got 63k with noone sitting in the bottom half of the stands.
Thursday night is a big part of it but it's not the whole story.
