Amazing how many sports other than NRL report inflated crowd numbers, and the NRL is so honest, how unfair is that?! Maybe independent contractors can be hired to audit these numbers so they can be verified and confirmed?

I would love GWS and the AFL to be audited. Biggest crooks ever.

What the GWS are doing with their crowd reporing is embarassing now. But less said about that insecure sport.
Good result with Parra going 3-1 and who knows what the Dogs could do if Storm have an off day. Some big numbers over the Easter weekend could be likely. Winning games is the ultimate form of marketing (Roosters being the exception to the rule)

Not if you are souffs or parra.

Souffs got 10k to their first home game after a 2-0 start and parra have averaged 12k in 2 home games during a 3-1 start.

The roosters home average so far in 2019 is 17k

I went to Parra v Roosters at ANZ last weekend and had not been to a game in probably 2 years. One thing I noticed was that Parra put about zero effort into any kind of game day experience apart from the football itself. I am hoping this means they are saving all their money and effort for Bankwest. We are going to get a big crowd there for the Tigers game, lets hope some money gets spent on the game day experience so that people want to come back especially kids.

I hope you don’t live in Sydney

You could play the Roosters in a prime Saturday or Sunday 3pm timeslot every week and unless its a Sydney based opponent they will have an ordinary turnout. I guess the NRL and rugby league in general is content with having empty stadiums.
I agree with Souths, Parra and also the Dogs. Should be having 20k at a game as a benchmark....but all the excuses and reasons why will come up “bad timeslot, too many teams in Sydney, the weather, we hate ANZ”
Even living in Brisbane, there doesn’t seem to be a huge urge for people to attend Broncos games. Current form will see the Lions get more through the gate at many fixtures this yeat which is not great in a one team rugby league heartland.

Should be at least two top flight rugby league clubs in Brisbane. Shame on the Broncos and News Ltd media for obstructing this.

Interesting to see the crowds for both games this afternoon /evening. Melbourne could draw well for the Bulldogs in Melbourne (hopefully 20000). Not so sure about Newcastle KNIGHTS V Saints as 6pm timeslot on a Sunday is problematic? Still wondering why this game was not scheduled for 2pm. My hunch is FOX tv insisted for the higher rating timeslot of 6pm. This has probably dropped the Newcastle crowd number by 10000. We will see.

What do you need for game day experience? EPL clubs don’t have cheer leaders, entertainment or juniors playing on the pitch and they sell out stadiums weekly.
If the stadiums were fit for purpose the game itself would be all the game day experience you would need.
You could have free blow jobs in the concourse but 15,000 people in ANZ is always going to lead to a shit game day experience.

Newcastle should be around 18-19,000. Similar to the Penrith game in Round Two.
Those curious can see Ticketmaster for what is currently available: https://www.ticketmaster.com.au/new...s-newcastle-07-04-2019/event/13005642BF4473B5

If the game had been at 2pm, would it have drawn more? Yeah sure. But the more important thing here is the form of both teams. Newcastle are playing very average football, and have struggled in attack. There is still plenty of good will in Newcastle etc, crowds are still keen - but will need to start winning soon and playing more entertaining football to get crowds consistently in the low/mid 20K range.

Its so hard to believe there is still only one. The NRL hasn’t had the balls to just make the decision, but you’d think perhaps the dwindling numbers at Broncos games - admittedly a lot of Thurs games - might push them to make a change.

Storm on a good day is 16-18k. They might crack 20k but the reality is its the same hardcore every week

They sold half price Tickets for a day and kids get in free, and first weekend of the school holidays.
That will all help the crowd so Im thinking 18-20k, but most likely still under 20.

That's good that the Storm are having a go! Hope that they surprise with a deserved big crowd.

I thought there was some intention to switch the 2pm/3pm Sunday game for 6pm in the first few rounds for player welfare. This was because last year there were some very hot games at Sunday 2pm. Manly v Parra comes to mind.

Will the 6pm Sunday disappear as we approach winter?

Yes, one only need look at the draw to figure that out

We not only need WSS to open, but for the Eels and Wests Tigers to have decent seasons winning most of their games there.

The new stadium factor will see people who may not have gone to the footy in a while or as often as they use to come to WSS. We ideally want them to enjoy the experience and get back into the 'habit' of attending games.

If the Eels and Tigers do a good job, they could easily see their crowd average swell to the 20K+ mark there and stay there.
What is still concerning is that the rebuild of Parra Stadium didn't appear to include any transport improvements that I'm aware of.

The best stadia are well connected to trains or light rail and at this point in time, the venue is still a decent hike from Parramatta Station and parking will be even worse than it was in the Pirtek days.

How so?
