Oh classy, using female attributes as an insult to someone. Well done. I bet you feel clever!

Your points are rambling. There's no point banging on about the SFS, it's being rebuilt at the same size, that deal is done, it's not changing now the election is done.

There is an existing stadium at SOP that should not have a reduced capacity. It needs work - whether that's a knock-down rebuild like the SFS or just a reconfiguration to make it rectangle. But reducing its capacity should be a no-go. We need an 80k stadium in that place.

As for which stadium is easier to get to - for most Sydneysiders, it's ANZ by a canter. There's a train to the door and 43253647 parking spots around the precinct, as opposed to one light rail line (is it even open yet?) and buses or walking uphill to Moore Park from Central.

Maybe when my kids have retired the light rail will be finished. Still parking and location hurts. ANZ just needs more restaurants etc around the place. Being a ghost town is it's biggest problem

I wish I had an extra set of arms so I could give this comment four thumbs up!

As clever as calling someone a dickhead I suppose, we're as clever as each other!

Just because something is decided, doesn't mean it should be accepted as the best solution. Granted, I'm an outsider, but I can only go on what is reported and what people on here say they feel is best for Sydney. Just doesn't seem to be a great mix on how they've directed the stadium investment

I agree there should be an 80k seater in Sydney, no question, but judging by the config planned and constant references that it is a hole, that it won't engage the level of support that it needs to justify the cost.

So ANZ being the beacon for Sydney sports stadiums, the re-config should generate a significant uplift in crowd attendances? If not, why do it?

For a start I didn't call you a dickhead unless Cumberland Throw is your alt, so not sure why that's offended you. I'm also not sure how you equate gendered insults to calling someone a dickhead but you do you.

The rest of your post is just waffle. You seem to now agree on something you disputed a few posts ago - that Sydney needs an 80k stadium. If ANZ is already that, why would you reduce its capacity and build something bigger somewhere else? Maintain ANZ's capacity, re-build it or reconfigure it.

As for the SFS - it's happening. Speculating on things that can't and won't happen is unhelpful.

Never indicated you called me anything but don't dish it to some then sook up when it comes back. Thought as a staff member, you were setting a standard to how low the bar was for replying... ;)

I never disputed Sydney didn't need an 80k seater, just disputed that ANZ will be the beacon that is needed. Especially with a half-arsed config that won't feel like the stadium Sydney deserves for it's no 1 sport and other key events. I hope it looks like it is a modern, world class rectangular stadium instead of patching up an oval stadium to keep people happy for now. Getting regular crowds below 15k would be embarrassing.

I don't drink the 'NRL is great, just accept it' coolaid like some. We won't advance anywhere if we just accept the decisions made and accept it without dispute when it doesn't sit right.

I think the point is that no matter how you feel about the Anz stadium redevlopment, it’s happening. Talking about what should be is pointless when its future is set in stone.

Yeah I get you, just frustrating when the mix could have been executed better. Just be a waste of money if there isn't the crowd uplift that you would expect from such an investment, as no doubt we'll see from WSS. I live in a city where the mix is great and works, just want that to be the case in Sydney so there's no more excuses on things as to why crowd numbers aren't growing to the level you'd expect for such a world class sport.

I don't have a problem with being insulted, I've copped plenty on here, I take issue with pathetic use of gender to insult people as though someone being female is somehow less. In terms of insults, your little panties/her joke is about 100 levels below dickhead in terms of quality of insult, and dickhead is already fairly low down the list.

I don't think anyone thinks that ANZ, in its current format, can remain as is. If there aren't upgrades, NRL clubs will continue to abandon it for places like Bankwest. Ultimately though I think it will receive some sort of upgrade to make it more rectangle friendly and be the stadium we want. But I can't see any reason for a reduction in size.

A few little showers around Brisbane and seq today. Not major but annoying. 22k tonight I think.
What's going on with Broncos crowds? Used to be untouchable, now the Knights almost seem to be approaching a bigger and better average (outside the Cowboys derby anyway)

There’s a ranking on insults? You’re the custodian of this? For all I know, you are a female, you get uppity like my mrs, you might very well be, nothing wrong with that all

I’m all for ANZ being rectangular, no need to be oval anymore. Fees like this solution is a stop though, especially considering the age of the stadium and likely changes needed in another 5-10 years on structures that become 25-30 years old

You would think if there's any work done it would keep it current for at least another 20-30 years before any serious work needs doing after that though?

You’d hope so, but indications suggest they will work largely around the lower bowls to fit the rectangular shape? That means the upper level(s) remain and the structure continues to age? Or do I have that wrong?

Until the government releases any meaningful detail I don't think anyone has that answer?

they're all thursday nights?

Dragons game it was pissing down all day. Daylight savings also meant the kickoff was listed at 6:55pm.

Wests Tigers have never been a big draw, Thursday night only makes it worse.

It's a fair assumption then that a refurbishment to cater for a rectangular layout means the lower sections are redone, but the top ones wouldn't as that is doing a rebuild. Again, just seems like a stop gap when the top sections will need attention in a decade or less, which will then impact the lower sections which won't be that old... Seems strange? I hope that it's wrong as that feels like a short term solution that will cost a lot in the longrun.

Thursday nights and rain have both existed for a while now, it seems to be worse.

Maybe Brisbane's form and quality are an issue too?

they have only had two home games, one was a good performance in front of 45k, the other was a week later. The dragons game had nothing to do with performance and everything to do with it being thursday night. Last year they had 4 thursday night home games and averaged 23k.
