Metallica and Queen will sell out. GF, Origin. I am sure other big events will be there too.

Size is fine. Configuration isn't and you'd think given the same operators run bank West and ANZ that smaller drawing games can be moved

Size is fine, useage isnt! There shouldn't be more than 6-10 NRL games held there. Its a terrible terrible look to see sub 20k crowds in a 80k stadium. Makes the game look unloved and Ive got to the point where Im not even watching on the TV anymore games at ANZ unless its a very attractive match up.

And no Timmah the answer isnt shtty suburban grounds with 17k comfortable capacities either. Bankwest is the answer. Another one of those at Allianz and a rebuilt ANZ for the big events is the answer, with some improvements to the outer suburb grounds and potentially a further Bankwest stadium on the cards for Tigers and Dogs to share in their region.

Cant believe how badly Sydney has stuffed this up, not helped by the NRL's lack of power in influencing decisions.

What's going on with Broncos crowds? Used to be untouchable, now the Knights almost seem to be approaching a bigger and better average (outside the Cowboys derby anyway)

The Broncs averages are pretty solid. They peaked at 34k in 2009 but were usually around 33k til a couple of years ago when Thursday night footy came in. That has seen them drop to around 31k.

I know I'm not saying anything new here but I have no idea why the NRL think it is a good idea to use otherwise good drawing matchups and plonk them on a Thursday night in an attempt to make the crowd somewhat decent. Those high drawing games should be the ones pushing the average attendance up, not keeping it out of the gutter.

Probably because, despite their claims, they still don't control to any great degree the fixture list.

Um, because Nein wants it that way? Despite the NRL "having control of the draw?"

I don't have a problem with being insulted, I've copped plenty on here, I take issue with pathetic use of gender to insult people as though someone being female is somehow less. In terms of insults, your little panties/her joke is about 100 levels below dickhead in terms of quality of insult, and dickhead is already fairly low down the list.

I don't think anyone thinks that ANZ, in its current format, can remain as is. If there aren't upgrades, NRL clubs will continue to abandon it for places like Bankwest. Ultimately though I think it will receive some sort of upgrade to make it more rectangle friendly and be the stadium we want. But I can't see any reason for a reduction in size.

Stones, glass houses and all that.... Take issue with yourself Timmah??

I agree with a lot of this. Watching a game at ANZ on telly with 10000 people there is a hollow experience. It’s getting harder and harder to motivate myself to watch those games.

Nothing is wrong. Two rain affected thursdays and a media beatup. Crowds will improve mate, calm down.

But they need to be very careful with pricing and marketing.

Awesome news.

New prediction

Broncos v tigers 22k
Titans v Panthers 13k
Cowboys v Storm 16k
Rabbits v Warriors 19k
Knights v Manly 22k
Sharks v Roosters 14k
Dragons v Bulldogs 20k
Raiders v Eels 14k

Total 140k ave 17.5k.

Isn't sunshine coast only 12k capacity? or was it upgraded

I wasn't aware there were media stories about it, I was literally making my own observations given the 22k (?) last week and the low expectation for tonight.

I don't think any of this contradicts or disagrees with what I've said? lol

Just about every ex bronco has come out of the woodwork slamming the broncos culture, mixed with Thursday and the odd shower didn’t help.

Traditionally thursdays do not do well here, other than a 44k against Melbourne and a 37k v roosters, both for Hodges and Parker’s last I don’t think we have had many over 30k.

Let’s not forget that against the tigers on a Friday would only really draw 25-30k.

The broncos released some $20 tickets the last couple of days but the marketing was non existant. People in Brisbane just know that if they are to go to the broncos game they will be set back $40+ fees for behind the post.

I would halve my salary to work for them and give them some ideas.
