Hethrington is going to emerge on the NRL scene this season and a few on here will have to eats there words. Huge future. His ill discipline issues will be a thing of the past and he is going to be huge in 2019 make no mistake.

Most think he is skilled just needs to control and direct his aggression better.

Pretty much everyone I’ve seen comment on him on these forums, even his biggest detractors, have said if he sorts out his discipline issues he will be very good or great.

He has talent in spades, that’s not hard to see. If he does sort it out I think it rounds out our pack nicely. We need another prop that can be relied upon.

Anyway I think we will see a big year from Leota as well, he finished last season looking really strong.

Yeah you don't make it too the NRL without talent. Whether he can convert that into being a good FGer is the question.

If Leota continues to improve his error rates he will have a huge year. His defence is good and that is what Ivan likes. He'd be my starting prop with RCG off the Bench to try and improve the bad starts

I was thinking we will see him starting regularly at some point.

3 of our starters RCG, JFH and Kikau are loose in defence all 3 are top 17 guys just may not start. Then of course Merrin going so the pack may get a shakeup it needs

I am with you on this. If Ivan can get him to pull his head in I think he will carve up.

I remember the new ref's boss said something along the lines of it's his job to ensure the game is as exciting as possible. The argument of if that's right or not is a debate for another thread but one would presume that would less penalties.

So even if his his attitude remains the same he could end up giving up away less penalties becoming less a liability in general and more Mark Geyer level rock and diamonds.

I don't remember too many he gave away for being offside or slowing the play down. His were penalties everytime regardless

It took you guys that Beach training video to realise that Hetherington is very quick off the mark? He had quite a few line breaks this season which demonstrated his physical ability. The only question is can he 'get it together' mentally? I'd suggest experience, perseverance and some good coaching should get his head right.

Hetherington has a lot of upside if he can get the ill discipline rubbish and bird brain moments out of his game. For a forward he has a lot of aggression. I like that when its needed.
In first grade we saw glimpse of his potential. He is not afraid to hit the line hard and has the ability to break it. He pulled off a big hit on Woods this year where it resulted in a turn over that turn the momentum our way. He just needs to control or limit his aggression. You don't need to belt the opposition players every tackle.
I think he can get better and his aggression can be controlled but I do think at best he will still have the odd moment of foolishness in his game.

Martin for me is the better sort of aggression

Ivan likes a lock-forward light on his feet who makes a lot of tackles and Martin fits that mold for the ISP side. Maybe Martin will play lock and Fish gets moved to starting prop.

Fish fits that role for the FG side imo. His missed tackle stats don't look great cause he hits and bounces off a lot, but he effects the tackle usually even if it gets counted as a miss.

He gives away dumb penalties late also. Either way Merrin and CHN are out of the finals team depending what 2 come I guess decides if there is a shuffle too

My apologies. I meant to reply to Old Panther.

Not doubting you but just to be clear do you have insider info about him having a better attitude this year, training harder, etc or is that your opinion from an outside perspective?

Purely from an outsider perspective.

I don’t think there was anything wrong with his attitude in 2018 he just tried to hard and let his enthusiasm get the better of him at times.

Everyone thought our coaching rukus was a nightmare. Holy shit. Brisbane finally had to sack Bennett to get him to move. Cheeky merkin wanted that last paycheck

Good on him for holding out and forcing their hand. He did nothing wrong.

He's an innocent victim just like poor Ivan.
