Mid season means current club pays half. Like for like swap in that case

Tim was off contract at West Tigers at end of 2018 no need for them to pay any of his wages.

Tim puts in a 100% on and off the field so he is useful back up to put pressure on those ahead of him and in the event of injury.

It doesn't mean that at all, clubs and managers negotiate those deals in the event of mid contract moves. I doubt there are clubs paying 50 percent, they would have to be desperate to get rid of someone to agree to 50 percent.

RCG is an elite prop, he proved that last season when he was fit. Where does your intimate knowledge of what we are paying our players come from?

100k does not get you get anything other than what we already have on the books. Who do you think we could've signed for 100k?

In what way did RCG show he was elite last year? Using averages here for props:

https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...tion=prop&isAvg=true&teamId=55011&sortBy=runs

36th in runs per game. 37th in metres. 22nd in linebreaks. 35th in tackle busts. 42nd in offloads. 20th in errors per game. 27th in penalties conceded.

In most of those categories Merrin beat him who was let go early..

Gus said we didn't pay minimum wage a few guys on our squad should be minimum wage guys

Bryce was one of our top paid guys. wasn't replaced externally lets say $500k for him.. Peachey was on the books for this year. Lets say $300k for him. Merrin was what $750k? I will leave Moylan off as his money would cover Maloney.

That is say $1.5m replaced with no named guys.

Sure they went to upgrades but as you said with Cleary. None are worth that money on current form or level they have been paid extras for the future

Statistics lie, and metrics that most people think are super important actually have little correlation with winning matches

You do realise RCG, JFH, Blake & Kikau were all resigned. Blake and Kikau were significant upgrades.

Either way we had them this year though. You either get a few hard heads for a season or 2 or you do we have done. Whether our option is the right one time will tell.

There is a few in our team that I don't see where they will fit long term .I'd would of much rather keep those spots open for Ivan to fill with guys he wants in.

75% of the squad will develop over the next 2-3 years. He might be one but there is no way his output last season was an 'elite' prop. 2020 or 2021 he maybe that prop but atm no where near

As it correctly points out though. Tamou was still better...Yet he too admitted to being on the chopping block. Hopefully RCG got a rocket too

To begin the year when he was fit he was our best forward and one of the form props in the comp. Where in those stats does it show how much he lifted the forwards around him? there is nothing to show his leadership qualities, and the stats are affected by the games he played coming off that broken jaw, stats do not tell the whole story.

And stop throwing around figures, you are guessing and making your guesses fit you pre conceived idea we have f**ked up our salary cap.

Which players do you not think fit in long term?

Aekins. Edwards is 23. DWZ is 24 either one could be fullback for 5-10 years
Paua/Tui Loso. They would have to jump 3 or 4 props to get regular time.

imo it is much better getting players capable of playing FG from round 1 even if for a season or 2. Rather then building up other players to go to other teams to get a run

you yourself have said in the past Cleary is on overs. So he is the only one?

I said today he was probably on overs and in the past one million is too much for him. I also said today we are likely paying overs for Maloney and Tamou. That's based off the circumstances in which we signed them though, not pretending to know what they are getting paid.

I agree Aekins needs to move on for his own sake. Especially if Edwards and DWZ both stay, as he won't even be the back up full back for injury cover, with both of them around.

Re Lui Toso, will be interesting to see if Cleary picks him over Grant if there are front row injuries or drop in form.

I am doing the same. Why would RCG lock himself in for 6 years to be paid way unders? Like Cleary he is more then likely on overs for the next few seasons but over that time. Hopefully he reaches that level.

Hmm he wasn't in the same kind of demand as Cleary or is he playing in such a vital position or he has he been getting anywhere near the same kind of hype as Nathan, since Nathans debut he has been one of the more talked up prodigies in the game currently. RCG might be on overs but he just as easily could've taken less from us than other clubs were offering. Nathan could've done the same, but the likelihood of Nathan receiving ridiculously big offers is a lot higher than it is with RCG IMO.
