If we replace Edwards with someone like Crichton then that the club can help. Not the letting them go it is replacing with guys that are still a bit off being FGwea.

I have said I don't think we are any better or worse then in 2016. If you aren't improving how can the cap be managed well? We are doing an ok job but can be better

Lack of improvement can be put down to many areas. Griffin whole coaching career has been that way, its no surprise we didn't improve the last couple years. The squad has certainly improved since last time Cleary was here, I don't see how that is even up for debate.

Letting Edwards go this season would annoy me tbh, whether we should do it or not would come down to how much fuss he caused and what we could do with his money. I am in no position to judge that but if he is genuinely wanting out we are better off trying to make it happen.

And if we had of not re-signed any one of Waqa, Kikau, CLeary etc you would be using that as an excuse to bag our management.

I really don't understand this idea that because we have released players in the past we are just going to keep doing it. Turning over all these players is how we have rebuilt the club and got the salary cap into a good spot after it being completely f**ked. The squad will be managed and there will be changes but the player turnover is going to slow down, it already has.

You are just predicting the future in order to bag our management now.

Gus wants to win and he has spoken numerous times about the need for an experienced squad to compete for a premiership, he knows what it takes but that doesn't mean he is going to keep bad contracts just because the players are experienced and every club in the game plans ahead and releases players in order to keep the players they need to.

For example the Roosters just got rid of Ferguson who was one of their best. They are ruthless when it comes to releasing players.

They look to the future, not the past. But I can't help thinking they might have made a blue with Crichton. Time will tell.

Players going past others is great. It means the team is growing the problem is the moment that happens the player that has been overtaken is out the door. Nothing wrong with finding a similar player 1st so we still have the depth.

Our top 13 was going to be our top 13 BUT how much better depth wise would we be in Peachey, Merrin and CHN were on the bench.

The 4 teams that finished in front of us who has gone backwards? I don't think we look enough at what our competition is doing. Only the Broncs out of the top 8 teams look weaker and Cows and Knights seem stronger. We don't look bad but look no better or worse then we were the previous 2 seasons
Your forgetting the thing called the salary cap - can't afford a bench including Peach, CHN & Merrin.

Hard to compare relative improvement with all the injuries over the past couple of years. A reduction in injuries means we don't need to worry what other teams are doing.

Injuries are part of the game though. You need lots of depth to finish top 4. You need to be top 4 to win the Comp.

Sharks added Morris, Johnson on top of making the GF in NSW Cup and winning Flegg this is despite them being a basket case.

Roosters lost a few plodders and Ferguson. Yet got Crichton, Morris and Hall. So it can be done but those teams have a win now mantra. Ours is just wait down the track

Napa is an origin forward. The roosters have more 3rd party deals than any other club, you just have to accept that they have more money avalaible to them than us, and still the only signing that is actually an improvement is Chricton who has some question marks. Morris is a downgrade. The roosters are not a good example for you to use if you are saying releasing players is bad cap management.

You still haven't said what you think we should've done outside of keeping everyone which is impossible.

According to this we have more TPA's (which is an offical source)

So you don't think Brett Morris and Ryan Hall are good replacements for Ferguson if a rookie doesn't come along? Same with Josh at Sharks they have the NSW u'20 centres but no guarantee they are good just yet.

I listed about 5 or 6 around the time Merrin was being shopped around that I would of liked to bring in for a season or 2

Guys Like Eastwood, Tagatese, Jason Clark. Wouldn't be top 17 even but if we needed them had big game experience and would be no more expensive then guys at the backend of the roster

Canberra has been mentioned so we should get them to send a guy on the fringe of FG as a replacement. Works for both

One thing I know about the Roosters is they time most of their departures right. (Except Maloney out for Hastings)
They get best out of the player and once he hits his peak out he goes. They rarely play better elsewhere.
Look at Jennings for example. We got some good but erratic years out of him but the Roosters got the best out of him in the short time he was at the club and they got rid of him. He has been declining ever since.

The old Bennet mantra "its better to let them go a year early than a year late".

I wouldn't rule another addition of that calibre once Mckendry gets squared away.
