One week before the election. Will they ever learn ?

I'll be shocked, irrespective of the result, if Barnaby is not leader of the National Party within 2 weeks from today.

The Nationals are about to lose a lot of the people that would've voted for McCormack in any case.

Lib party launch today. The poster is not trolling either. He’s a reporter from The Australian and a SkyNews regular.

Also a former Rudd adviser. He's a Labor man.

Tell all the facts @Gronk, to tell the whole story, not just those aspects that you want others to know.

Well your argument appeared to be that because he appeared on Sky News that he was for the Liberal Party.

I wonder why he was chosen to write the Father of the Liberal Party’s bio ? Launched at The Sydney Institute?

It's your election to lose merkin. If the punters elect Homer Shorten, what does that say about your mob? I'll tell you this for free: the LNP need to have policies for the majority rather than mindlessly impose their far right agendas on society.

In a way i hope that Abbott wins his seat because he will continue to whiteant and disrupt your party. Won't that be fun ?
Just wait for the bill that the idiot 3 (Shorten, Plibasek,Bowen) aided by the stupid Keneally have to pay to Sally Mc!anus for funding their election campaign.

You as an anti coal nutcase must be having kittens when that bill includes the CMFEU demands on Adani, then wait for the thousands of grandparents to arrive and seek pensions and the boats to start, fortunately for the basket weavers of Easternp Suburbs and Inner City the influx of illegal migrants and the like don't invade your wealthy suburbs, I'm sure that could be arranged if you really were as democratic as you pretend.

McManus is your worst nightmare; Unionist, competent, articulate, female, successful. Basically the opposite of the LNP.

Dude take a breath. Homer might tinker around the edges, but the economy will still roll over and the sun will still rise in the morning. Nobody knows what the senate will look like and whilst Homer might have a majority in the house of reps, he might not be able to get anything through the upper house. Fun fun !

Please stop with the CMFEU Getup this and that. The libs are just as sneaky and untrustworthy.

I voted this morning...holy f**king shit the options in my electorate are dire. Both for Senate and House.

Of the eight options for the House, legit five are strongly one sided to the point of being blinded by it, or even utter loonies (Liberal Dems, Great Australians, Palmer, Australian Progressives, Greens). The Lib guy is useless, a new guy, career public servant who sounds like talking a billboard.

Senate is even worse....Fraser Anning Party gets a run, Christian loonies, like 7 independents who have absolutely no platforms, Palmer again, One Sustainable Nation Australia....

Every time, there seems to be more and more random nutters dipping their wick

Goes to what I was saying in response to crocodile above, our system could be more progressive particularly when looking at the top two brackets, the split is 90k - 180k, then 180k plus.

There's not doubt that someone earning cicra 100k has less capacity to pay a higher tax rate as say some one earning 150k, then to compound that to treat someone earning 200k the same as some one earning say 10 million is patently ridiculous ( if you see value in a progressive tax system ) For mine the solution lies in more tax brackets, nor less.

I too get where @Kornstar is coming from, as going off what he has posted, I probably pay very similar amounts in tax, I just don't see that the problem or the solution lies with those that earn less than I do.

Yes, you did say something along those lines. Needless to say that I don't agree with it. Ramping up tax rates to wealthy individuals all sounds like a fantastic idea. Unfortunately, the proposition ignores the resulting deadweight losses associated with this action. Governments over time, of all stripes have gradually reduced the high marginal rates, not because they like rich dudes but because in many cases the deadweight loss exceeds the amount of revenue raised.

I've never understood the reasoning that it's not worth earning more, because you pay higher tax, of course you f**king do, it's cause you earn't more f**king money

It's just amazing how many people have no f**king idea how tax brackets work, there are people who actually believe that once you hit the next bracket up, it applies to all your earnings.

Bollocks. You're off with the fairies at the bottom of my garden if you think that people don't make deliberate decisions about the trade off between work and doing something else based upon how much the ATO want to get their hands on. Even I sometimes ( but not always ) have trouble convincing people to do some overtime for the simple reason "It isn't worth it". High marginal rates are poisonous. On an economy wide scale I'd be less concerned about lower rates than I am about the loss of production that results. This adds directly to GDP which the withdrawal of never comes back. It hurts us more than you think it does.
