Why is it considered just a "scare campaign" if you specifically oppose what the other mob are planning? .... i would think thats just debating/politics.

Labor has always gone after easy targets to fund their plans. Of course they go after people with easy money to tax while trying to look like robin hood. Its basically the foundation of their existence.

I think what labor overlooked is that many of the popularity contest issues like same sex marriage etc are mostly resolved, so they couldnt count on those issues to win them back ground.

It's a scare campaign when all up the main roads in Canberra for eg you have 17,000 signs that say "Labor will tax YOUR CAR!!!" "Labor will tax YOUR HOME!!!" "Labor will tax YOUR DEATH!!!" "Labor will tax YOUR MONEY THAT YOU FOUND UNDER THE COUCH THAT ONE TIME AND THOUGHT YOU MIGHT GET A COFFEE WITH OR WHATEVER!!!"

Much like it was a scare campaign when we all got textas about the Libs and Medicare.

Want me to take a photo of the 6 thousand pamphlets Labor sent to my house with the same sort of sentiment and photos of the 4 or so liberal pollies labor specifically targetted pulling weird faces.

Its the same shit. Both sides are doing it. To claim only Libs do is horseshit.

Why are people saying only one side does it IN ANY SINGLE ELECTION? ie Libs did it this time but Labor didnt.

My point is EVERYONE does it EVERY election. Its no big deal if they are all doing it. Its no reason to justify a win/loss.

Not sure. Possibly because one side is more successful than the other in each election, so it's more memorable?

My issue is that scare campaigns are so influential, not that one party uses them more than another. People who don't know better will be sucked in hook line and sinker.

Its what politics is ... talk yourself up and the others down .... always has been in my memory .... and both sides have always done it every election

Sportsbet probably knew. I mean yes they paid out 1.2 million. But labor was like 1.35 at longest. So what did it actually cost them? They collected around 900k and paid out 1.2 mill so only lost 300k from own pocket on then early payout.

It gave them great advertising. Everyone was talking about how sportbet paid out early. Heck it may of even hnelped influence Liberal winning.
