Couldn’t agree more. Adding a rugby(football) is a must for me in order to associate the logo with the game/sport of rugby league.

The NBA logo has a figure dribbling a basketball. The NFL logo has a American football and the MLB logo has a figure with a baseball bat swinging at a ball.

We must be the only professional competition in the world that doesnt have some sort of object associating with the sport.

People who aren't familiar with the NRL would have to think harder and find out what "NRL" is for.

Whereas the old logo in 1998 was easier.

Put a football in like the WA logo above.

In broader branding terms, it is a travasty that our game ball is so unmemorable...

Just about every other game in the world has some sort of iconic game ball. Even most of the other oval ball sports have their own distinction (AF = Brown lether, VFL = bright red)

Yet ours is "sort of white, but also not..." There is no design element beyond the Steeden brand, and even that is poorly integrated.

The French Rugby League Federation's logo is just a stylised rooster. The NZ Rugby League's logo has no ball on it, just a kiwi and a silver fern frond. The National Hockey League in the US is just the letters on a shield. Premier League soccer in the UK is a crowned lion's head. County cricket in the UK, the Sheffield Shield competition and the Big Bash League here in Australia all don't feature any piece of cricket equipment. Super Netball's logo is a combination of an "S" and an "N". America's National Lacrosse League is compass points on a shield.

Let’s copy them spastics then

:joy:

I think he means the way to logo is a stencil...the background colour forms the “fill” of the logo rather than white.
Well it's on a polo so I don't know that it'll be a jersey application anyway - But with the simplicity of the new comp logo - who knows. As others have point out is that some clubs have chevrons / vees that make it difficult to do one solid colour.

That’s interesting as I’ve never really thought about that. Not sure how or if I would change the actual RL ball in terms of colour but there’s no reason but to change it in the logo even if you just simply add the initials RL on the ball.

As much as the red leather ball is associated with AFL, the yellow ball is the highest used ball.

I don't care the ball isn't part of our logo, chevrons are just as iconic to Southern hemisphere rugby league

The NHL (National Hockey League) is simply a shield with NHL on it.
EPL is simply a lion with a crown (used to stand on a ball but that has been removed).
The MLS (Major League Soccer) logo used to be a foot striking a ball but was replaced with a red and white shield with three stars.

We need a footy.

By the way their time is better invested to actually change the name of our game to something that makes sense than to have a rebrand of a logo every 4 years. Won’t happen and yes we missed the boat, but I was just in Ireland (a country that f**king plays rugby league) talking to a young kid about the Irish league team doing good and he’s like “what ya mean there is 2 rugby’s??”

Same thing can be said for non-NRL states in Australia where NRL is the highest-viewed sport on tv nation-wide.

Peeps here in WA know of the NRL, know of State Of Origin (and lots actually watch Origin), but then think they're all the same as the Western Force and Wallabies. "What's the difference?" is probably one of the top 5 questions I ever get asked.

I'd love to remove any and all confusion between the two codes, but short of killing off union altogether, the next most logical step is to give us a unique name. I've not invested much time or thought into it over the years, but absolutely nothing I've seen or thought of sounds any good or relatable to our great game unless we just go with 'League'. 'League Australia' replacing NRL, that sorta thing.

The Kiwis are moving to ISC after a year with Macron. That didn’t last long.

The ISC logo on the sleeves is different to how they usually do it. I wonder if that’s specific to this jersey or something ISC will be doing going forward.

Also, while digging up this photo to post I discovered that ISC has blocked me on Twitter for some reason and I’m scratching my head as to why. Bizarre.

Hope they alter this for various jerseys. It fitted in well the way it was with the roosters and dragons shoulder V's.

We’re very close to the most wonderful time of the year for jersey nerds. Looking forward to seeing all the new gear for 2019.

Which teams have jersey's up for replacement? Do teams still have to keep their primary jersey for three years and the alternate for two? If so, the Dragons will have the same two jerseys next year.

I don't think those rules are policed very tightly these days.
But last I heard, yes, those were the rules.

The confusion is IN the ‘league’ and ‘union’ titles. Can’t use them if we were to change.
