So they can sponsor the swans for 34 years .

But only do roosters sleeve for 1
A friend of mine works as a Conflicts Analyst at QBE.

She told me the reason why her and her team came to the conclusion that QBE should no longer sponsor the Roosters but should still continue to sponsor the Swans.

FYI the reason is nothing disparaging to do with the Roosters.

What was the reason ?

My biggest gripe with the Manly away jersey next year is that we never got to see this.
Solid stripes and a maroon collar would have been the 2 changes that they would have made to last years away if they kept it (based on the changes made to the home jersey). Hopefully they use it as a heritage.

I agree... And the maroon shorts and socks balancing out the predominance of the white beautifully. And had they have gone ahead with the changes above then in my opinion, this would have been the best iteration/remake of this particular design that they have done in the modern era.. (yes like I said about the raiders widnes jersey in another thread which caused a havoc).

For the sake of selling jerseys they’ll probably hold back the white version for a year or two. Put them both out this year and fans may only buy one.

This probably goes deeper than just sponsorship, but what is it about the Sharks that means they are unable to retain any sponsor long-term? Since LG walked away nearly a decade ago, they've churned through major sponsors like nothing else and now Opal Solar appear gone as well, 3 of 4 spots on next season's jersey reportedly vacant still? (not to mention apparently they've just sacked 10 staff).

Granted other clubs have similar issues but at least seem to then find a sponsor and stick solid.

Putting the club's image issues aside, I'm certain the club are overestimating how much their jersey spots are worth and (foolishly, in my opinion) are willing to sacrifice merch sales over the holidays and the negative connotations of an empty jersey in order to find a company willing to pay the big money they are after. Apparently Barry wasn't happy with the amount the current sponsors were paying and let the deals expire.

It’s not like multiple sponsors bailed after players got their cocks out in the pub though.

If there were a new major sponsor it wouldn’t be on items like that since they’re produced pretty far in advance.

Sharks sponsorship portfolio in 2017 was worth $7.5mill which is pretty reasonable. I'm sure another scandal hasn't helped their cause but still seems a big drop off in a short space of time. It always interests me what clubs get what sponsors and whats the motivation of the sponsoring company. Some are clearly linked to fans of that club who have a business and others seem to be quite random at times. I do wonder if having Telstra as main sponsor cuts out a lot of opportunity for clubs to have sponsorship from mobile carriers, a big part of the sports sponsorship portfolio in Europe? Are alcohol sponsors banned at a club level? That would be another area where you would expect to see a lot of interest in marketing to our games demographic.

Alcohol isn’t banned, NQ have Bundy on the chest as a sponsor.
