One name
SEMI RADRADRA
As a winger he single handed got the Eels to be a winning team
Great wingers make a huge difference
I agree that great wingers make a huge difference. I was thinking of Semi when I wrote my post, but I will stick to the formula of cheap wingers. Parra didn't win a comp with Semi and I can't think of any clubs who won the comp in the last 9 years who had wingers on big money. The key is finding a good youngster or 2 who will be on bigger money in the future. B Morris and Nightingale are a perfect example. So are Hopoate, RTS, Vunivulu, Addo Carr and Holmes.

TBH I like what they’ve done, we may very well find “.. a good youngster or 2...”
It could be very wise, but it could also backfire. Our backline must create and or finish off tries for us to compete.

Must create and finish off more than it concedes ...

Run this simple test over our remaining backline players

Tuqiri?

I actually agree ... the criteria has to be big strong and fast ... Everything Nightingale wasnt.
In Pearson/Pereira/Ravalawa we have that ... They have minimal experience though and so it really falls onto the quality of the centres/edge forwards/halves etc to bring out the best in them. Another cross in the column for Aitken.

We will sport an inexperienced 3/4 line but one that has a lot of potential.

The more I think about this scenario, the more nervous I get. I’m Kinda of reminds me of a risky business deal. Would of felt more secure if Mann was still around.

I dont believe inexperience is that much of an issue. I mean all of them have laced a boot before.
The issue is the structures, training and game day confidence. Each of our proposed 3/4 line has now played at NRL level. Its up to the coaching staff to get the most of their talents out by using structures that utilise their skills, not inhibit them.

Not sure ahout that, compare few games by Pearson and no games for Ravalawa against international and origin wingers it maybe an issue but it’s fair and to say Pierra held his own and Lomax should hold his own if needed and all in all Nene got good meterage scored a few bell ringers but neither winger last year was outstanding so at worst we are not much worst off at best we maybe better. First game v to giant Cowboy wingers (Phelps & Nene) in Townsville may provide an early indication.

Good ready. Fully agree. I think Pearson my surprise and come on very quickly. I can't help but think through Millward s interview we may still be looking for a winger. I have a funny feeling it could be Tupou before June 30 if hall is fit and firing.

The Chooks has both Ferguson and Tupou on the wing.

Both are SOO standard players.

Both wouldn’t have been on lower end stipends.

It’s a huge risk to have two vastly inexperienced wingers.

Very poor recruitment, in my opinion.

That’s the spin some will try.

The brothers aren’t playing together anymore.
I think the money on offer had a bit to do it, which we were not prepared to match. I'm sure all our smart supporters on here are awake to the heartfelt reasons for changing clubs are utilised for the obvious reasons where they can for a smother for "money" or "services no longer required or useful" for reasons fair enough, that should not be released.

jimmy jimmy jimmy Jonus Pearson has played behind corry oates and jamayne issako and has played first grade for the donkeys .im told hes a very very good winger why dont you give the guy a chance before you write him off ,and ravalawa the grapevine says hes very good also .THE BIG RED V has not got lots of brown paper bags like uncle nick so we have to more careful with our recruitment ,lets just enjoy the ride and see where it takes us .........

Pearson: only 10 FG games since 2016! If he was any good, Bennett would’ve found a spot for him somewhere.

He didn’t, and I’d respect his judgement over the Dragons’ so called recruitment decision makers.

Ravalawa: NO first grade experience whatsoever. His acquisition represents a massive risk.

Personally, I’d rather experienced wingers than taking a gamble.

Look I understand you'd like some experienced wingers, but I think you are being unrealistic here.

Just because he didn't slot directly into the Broncos doesn't mean he wasn't good enough. From what I understand, his positions are wing and centre - and the Broncos have those positions filled with some stiff opposition. You can't then just slot him in anywhere given his position and the players in front of him.

It really sounds to me like you are just looking for an excuse to whinge.

No, not any more, do you think anyone else would throw the kind of money Hasler did at them just to keep them together at this stage of their careers, they were lucky that they didn't have to go to the Esl.
