Hitachi Cooling & Heating to partner with the Bulldogs

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have continued to create strong corporate partnerships with the announcement that Hitachi Cooling & Heating will be their back of shorts sponsor for the 2020 season.

Hitachi Cooling & Heating is the premium global brand recognised as the master in the creation of living spaces, through the search, ideation and design of reliable, efficient and high-end cooling & heating systems.

With a current global branding campaign called #Air is life, Hitachi Cooling & Heating are leaders in producing technology that creates truly comfortable living spaces no matter what the environment outdoors.

Group Brand Manager Temperzone/Hitachi Cooling & Heating, Damien Walsh, saw a real connection between Hitachi and the Bulldogs:

Definitely. But a player usually carries the ball to one side or the other, so the logo would usually be part visible.

And I forgot to mention that close-up photos often exclude the lower half of the player's torso, because photos on the web (and occasionally in print) tend to be wider than they are tall.

The NRL should specify a minimum vertical distance of 7.5 cm (or at least 5 cm) from the base of the premiership logo to the top of the sponsor bounding box.


The AFL seem to get away with much smaller sponsor logos. They appear around the chest area, though. Wonder if that was the compromise?

They have a much less cluttered jersey (having no sleeves limits sponsor space I suppose) with their main sponsor being small and placed where we put our club badge. They only have two sponsors on their jersey as opposed to our five

Obviously multiple sponsors means multiple contracts. Not all would end at the same time of course but you’d think the guarantee of an uncluttered jersey could entice one major sponsor to cough up a massive chunk of money.

AFL sponsor logos (depending on the club of course) have been steadily growing in size for years. It's gradual but when you've got a club that has had the same sponsor for 10+ years and you compare now to 2009 you can see it. I won't clutter up this thread with AFL images but compare the Swans from now to then.

I wish when the first rugby league team decided to wear a sponsor logo they made the decision to do it AFL style. It's probably that original decision that started it all.

NRL main sponsor logos are worth around $1mill where as some AFL clubs main sponsors are in the $2mill plus region. Only having two sponsors on your jersey will drive up the price I guess. Not sure why they seem to have greater longevity with 5 year deals not being abnormal?

Other thing is NRL sponsorship, they seem to have done a good job in increasing game sponsorship in recent years (though hard to differentiate how much is betting revenue and how much actual sponsorship in financial reports) but when it comes to main sponsor we continue to bundle it in with the Telstra media deal. AFL just signed a $18.5mill a year main sponsor deal where as we seem to get a fraction of that from Telstra?

Geelong has been sponsored by Ford in one way or another for over 90 years now. We could only dream to have long-term partnerships even half as good as that. Having a long-term partner shows strength and stability for both the company and especially the club. I'm sure Geelong fans would riot if Ford even suggested ending their sponsorship - which is a strange way to talk about sports sponsorship.

NSW Blues to unveil new strips for State of Origin 2020

These are the jerseys NSW will wear when they chase a historic three-peat over Queensland next season.

The Daily Telegraph has been given an exclusive sneak peak at the Blues’ three different strips for training and matches in Sydney (June 21), Adelaide (June 3) and Brisbane (July 8).

There will be a home jumper, alternate outfit and special captain’s run apparel.

NSW will formally unveil the jumpers at the Blues’ Centre of Excellence inside Sydney Olympic Park on Tuesday.

Star players Paul Vaughan, Cameron Murray and Damien Cook will model the jerseys, which will be part of the 40th anniversary celebrations for State of Origin.

The captain’s run outfit will include an image of a blue heeler dog on the front. The NSWRL said the “Australian-bred dog espouses the values the NSW Blues are built on and reflects the values of the NSW Blues, including mateship, loyalty, work ethic and discipline”.

NSW will wear their traditional sky blue home strip in Sydney and Brisbane and the alternate jumper, which is predominantly navy blue, in Adelaide.

The predominantly navy blue jumper was worn for the match in Perth this year and sold out.

It is similar to the one worn by the Blues in 1997 when Canterbury sportswear first became a partner with the NSWRL.

“The alternate playing strip (for Perth) was such a great moment in time for NSW,” NSWRL head of commercial and digital Jodie Cross said.

“It was a bold and innovative move, which is something we pride ourselves on at NSWRL, and the jersey sold out, which was a fantastic result.”

Trent Barrett, who played in the 1997 NSW side, said: “It’s great to see NSWRL bring back an iconic winning jersey to celebrate 40 years of Origin. I think the jumper looks great.”

The NSWRL has also filmed an advertisement promoting an inclusive state involving Sydney and all rural areas.

In a further boost to NSW, Brydens Lawyers has signed for another three years as naming rights sponsor.

“It is with unabated excitement and immense pride that I confirm the continuing partnership of Brydens Lawyers with the NSWRL as the naming rights sponsor of the Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues up to and including the 2023 State of Origin series,” principal of Brydens Lawyers Lee Hagipantelis said.

“The sponsorship of the Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues has proven enormously rewarding both professionally and personally.

“It is a genuine partnership founded on shared ideals and principles underscored by a commitment to excellence by both organisations.

“It affirms the investment that Brydens Lawyers has made in the game of rugby league in NSW, from the grassroots level through to the pinnacle of the game with
Canterbury Sports marketing manager Nathan Russell added: “As Origin celebrates 40 years in 2020, Canterbury is proud to continue its partnership with the Blues.

“In particular, we are proud to celebrate our Origin history with NSWRL, bringing back to life the first jersey Canterbury designed for the Blues in 1997.”
