Anyone else think parra got a bit excited and let it out too early. The sivo push up head first into the defender and bend your neck thing is quite a good strategy and should have been saved for the finals. They went and wasted it against a lelbourne team with 3 first graders now the refs are all over it

Yep, back into the defence and you should get your neck twisted however the defender wants...

Wait.

Backing into the defence shouldn't mean "all bets are off" if the tackle is illegal. A crusher is a crusher regardless of how the attacker hits the defensive line. There could be mitigation, for sure...but to say all bets are off is asking for trouble.
I get where your coming from but backing into the defence leaves the player open to crusher tackles intentional or accidental (not to mention leaving your rib cage unprotected). I believe this has started because defenders are going high first trying to lock the ball up instead of going low to stop the players momentum with the attacking player looking to take advantage of this by turning and attempting to offload the ball. How they stop crushers and the milking of the new crusher rules I don't know.

Actually rewarding one on one low tackles would be agreat start, but it seems there is very little appetite for that.

Did ponga get done for the slater inspired Kung fu fighting and then shoulder charge to save a try?

Didn’t Tommy Turbo get put on report early on in the season for this? Saw Ponga’s at the time in thought should’ve been penalised

Nothing for Kikau? He is pretty lucky, first game back from a shoulder on a bloke without the ball, and he puts a shoulder into the head of a bloke who has just kicked it.

Not sure the Riki one deserves two weeks. But I guess he isn't a big name player so they can throw the book at him. As we've seen on many occasions this house of cards will come crumbling down when a star of the game is let off for a worse crusher in rd 20.

"I guess he isn't a big name player" isn't relevant. Crusher Tackles have been upped as of a couple of weeks ago to 200 base penalty, so even a star player being charged with one f**ks them.

Unfortunately for Riki, he picked up priors and carryovers in ISC last season so he's stuck with the 2 weeks and can't plea it down.

There is definitely ‘nuffie loading’ that the NRL takes into account.
