The Game 2020 Judiciary Charges

I don't think you understand the system. The NRL deems dangerous throws worse than careless high tackles. A Grade 1 careless is just a fine. If you have priors the fine is larger.
The system is screwed when you can hit someone square across the face with blood being drawn, and get a grading like that. The fining is bullshit which gives players like JWH the knowledge that if they try to take someone out n a manner which it only attracts a monetary penalty, it needs fixing.

As the importance scales up, so too does the points required to miss the game

Don’t make the judiciary force themselves into silly and inconsistent rulings just to ensure players aren’t ruled out of big games for minor offences
Change the system to help them maintain consistency

Not sure if it's still in effect but the AFL used to double suspensions during the finals, maybe a blanket 50% loading would make sense in the NRL, rising to 100% for prelims and the grand final.

I think you need to look up what careless means. JWH wasn't intending to hit Edwards the way he was. If he was it wouldn't have been a Careless charge.

Good decision in my book. Has priors should have learnt from them.

If he gets off so be it but deserves to be charged

It's a fair charge and he's absolutely guity of it. I think he's going to get off because no one wants to see the guy miss a prelim final for it... and i dont either, but under the current rules he should

They’ll let him off, though there is no doubt he’d not have a prayer of getting off for a regular season game

another example why games should be tiered imo
Regular season games... 100 points
Finals week 1... 125 points
Finals week 2... 150 points
Finals week 3... 200 points
GF... 250 points
Test and SOO... 150 points

As the importance scales up, so too does the points required to miss the game

Don’t make the judiciary force themselves into silly and inconsistent rulings just to ensure players aren’t ruled out of big games for minor offences
Change the system to help them maintain consistency
calm down , get banned in a world cup final, for 19 weeks nrl games, please stop it

The high shot has gone the way of the trip, small fine nothing to see here.

I know it’s no risk going to the judiciary as an early plea would be same result but surely he has no way of getting off that tacke. Really lucky it’s only 1 week imo smiths grade 1 was a pretty fair grading and he is lucky not to miss a week by comparison Kikau got a low grading
He held on to JWH until he was on the ground. That'll be the argument but I don't expect he'll be exonerated. With these sort of tackles the worse looking ones are frequently less dangerous. The one that put Alex McKinnon in a wheelchair was more like the Smith tackle than the Kikau one.

cant say I agree with that. The one that broke McKinnons neck was barely above horizontal but had multiple players in the tackle, the weight of the players coming down on him was the danger.

Smith was pretty much a one on one around the legs with and awkward lift as he attempted to drive the player back.
