Did Kent jut say Ponga withdrawing from Origin cause he doesn't want to be in the bubble again?

Hooper questioned him on that

Then Kent muttered - younger generation

Ikin quickly moved on
We're always blaming younger generations when we should just blame younger people. And in this case we're in a very unusual situation so even blaming the immaturity might not be fair. But I dunno cos obviously I didn't see it as I'm watching a badly timed sunset.

On NRL Tonight they said that in the 5 years of this current Top 8 system, out of the 10 games that have been played only one team has gone out in straight sets. They didn't name the team but it was us in 2017. Surely we don't do it again....

Very good chance it happens again too.

It would most likey be a team that overachieves in the regular season.

Also, for a bunch of merkins who enjoy the detached discussion of an internet forum, I assume most of us here are introverts and had it pretty easy during lockdown. But an extrovert, which would include most NRL players, would suffer pretty badly from that sort of existence, especially a young dude like Ponga. I'm an introvert but in my 20s I'd go mad if I couldn't go out on the weekend making a merkin of myself.

Or a team that shits itself in the postseason
It comes down to lack of leadership and experience. I maintain Brian Smith's flaw was that real leaders never wanted to play for him, but that he consistently got teams to overachieve in the regular season. It was a recipe for playing a lot of big games with a team that wasn't quite up to it.

Look at our side under Arthur. Five finals matches (three against Melbourne) and we have only failed to turn up once. The other times we were either outclassed or won by 58 points. But that 2019 side was the least experienced of any Eels finals team since about 2005. Winning 58-0 would've been the worst preparation possible for that side.

I suppose my point is that I don't really see the difference between overachieving in the regular season and shitting oneself in the finals.

Now you just make a merkin of yourself on here.

Or with a coach not capable of getting his team to the next level.

Think Matty Elliot.

Been saying it for a long time now. He may be a good coach and a great bloke. But is he really the man that’s going to break our drought?? I bet @strider left nut, he won’t.

Speak for yourself I’ve never been an introvert.
