Or with a coach not capable of getting his team to the next level.

Think Matty Elliot.
He only coached at clubs incapable of getting to the next level. Raiders, Panthers, Warriors. All clubs that need a massive amount of luck to compete with the big boys in any given season. Elliott overachieved with both the Raiders and Panthers. They finished second with Burns and Walsh in the halves ffs.

That explains why you're so desperate for validation.
That’s a bit personal, Pou. We all seek validation which is why I get an alert evertime someone quotes my post. But I don’t think I’m desperate, not yet anyway.

Or am I?

If he was such an overachiever why is he now an Assistant for a Hump like Griffen???

He was a plodder who never won a finals game, lucky for Bea Arthur he was lucky to run into a disgraceful Broncos team.

Because reputation is a big part of a coach's effectiveness, and that reputation is largely a creation of the media and fans. It's why nearly every coach has a shelf life. It's why coaches turn down jobs at clubs like the Titans, preferring to bide their time until the top job opens up at the Roosters or Broncos.

I thought the Tits got the pick of the litter thus the immortal Justin Holbrook as coach?

Broncos landed a big fish like Walters, must of gotten the job with his great reputation.
Walters will be a puppet of the Broncos old boys club. Let's see if he gets crucified like Seibold if they don't aim up again next year, which is a fair chance after the mental scars they have copped in 2020.

Just on Walters, his mates at Fox who have been wanting him to get the job at Brisbane not once mentioned his coaching record overseas:
25 wins and 38 losses
It’s Kearney-esque. Catalans couldn’t wait to see the back of him.

That’s what I don’t get about people wanting him to be Bronco’s coach. A year before he went to Catalans they came 3rd. In Kev’s first year they came 8th. In his second year they came last.

As Qld coach he won 2 series and lost 2. I think they’re specials for another bottom 4 finish next year.
