Were you being Farseashus????
Nope. It's clear when you watch NRL 360 or the Michael Jones podcast that he has a shit load of contacts and is almost always across the detail of what has happened.

Whether one agrees with how he uses that information and the position he takes is another story of course...

He makes even more sense on the Matty Johns Podcast. I must admit I am changing my opinion on the little kent.

Kent can be a wanker at times or push an agenda or two either of his own choosing or under pressure of being employed by a powerful media conglomerate, but mostly he is the better of a sad lot of journalists and ex-footy players on these type of shows.

All this hate for him I find way over the top. He loves the game and calls out a lot of unprofessional crap that never ever seems to get fixed. The times I get the shits with him are when he back tracks or doesn't make a big enough issue about a story/issue/problem because it may be a conflict of interest with his employers or his own previous bias.

But overall he is way better then most on these shows. It's a very low bar though. It must be so hard to find someone that is commonsense smart, speaks well with a good voice and can entertain in the way they speak and that doesn't eventually turn to crap with their own little biases and agendas in Australian sport, especially Rugby League.

I agree.

My only criticism of Paul Kent is that sometimes he gets fired up at an issue, and when he is confronted on it, he backs down.

I'm not having a go at him - my personality is the type that is not good at confrontation, so I get it -, but I like seeing him get fired up about something.

I like Kent - he flip-flops sometimes, but he is generally the only rugby league personality who calls people out on their bullshit.

He gave it to the NRL for allowing Cam Smith to give his wife that ring, which the NRL paid for.

He gave it to Cam Smith for f**king around, and not deciding on his future.

I don't mind Kent

He huffs and puffs on NRL360 at times, but that's probably a directive from the producers

Is really good on the podcast, and also not afraid to say it as it is (the opposite of the majority usually), particularly when people are jizzing about Cam Smith or how crap Parra are :D

I think that when he backs down it is more from the point of view as to not turn the discussion into an out and out verbal stoush where neither party can come back from. After all he is mates with most of these guys and it is a public forum so there is no point in getting to heated on tele where you can easily lose it and go over the top.

Would make great entertaining television but I don't think it would make for strong future relationships. They are all to sensitive and fragile and protective of their on screen self perceived relevance and importance in the game.

But yes I like it when he gets a bee in his bonnet as long as it is a genuine issue that he is on the right side of.
