Goal kicking is definitely over rated.

I think souths lost one game by 2 points where both sides missed a conversion.
Mate we lost a game by 8 points when we both scored 6 tries

Outside Trell we have no goal kicker.. so whatever they want to do to improve this is good for me

What we have needed is a goal-kicking, experienced organising halfback with an excellent kicking game....

Winning that 1 extra match would have given a 14th place finish.

The in game kicking and organsing half, sure, but goal kicking is a nice to have.

Fixing the 11th in tries is more important. Fixing the 680 points allowed is way more important.

But that aside is a kicking coach going to miraculously create a goal kicker from nowhere?

Any NRL side kicking under 75% is embarrassing in the modern game.

Souths injury toll is what blew their win/loss margin apart. It will be much closer this year for them and they'll need a better result from their kicker.

Sure,it's also embarrassing to compete with the Tigers for the spoon.

But you could also argue that injury toll is what drove the kicking down and it's an outlier result that did nothing material in the end anyway because they were a bottom half attacking side.

Heck if they were the first team in history to slot every attempt then according to the stats on the fox sports lab they'd still have been a bottom half attacking side

Worth noting west tigers have had a better conversion percentage that penrith for the past 2 years...

It's just one of those areas of the sport where mistakes can easily be mitigated.

Similar to kick offs, drop outs etc. How many times did Latrell boot it over the sideline last year? (Unless that was his intention to waste time). It's just crap footy and it's an area Latrell should be on top of.
