The Maitland squad is on reduced payments for 2020 but that has not stopped the club from signing another 3 players from the Qld Cup for their tilt at the Presidents Cup. James Taylor, who has played for a number of clubs in the Qld Cup flew in today and is expected to start in the front row on Sunday. Another Souths Logans forward, Toa Faitatoa, has also come onboard. Faitatoa went through the Knights system and played NSW Cup in 2018. Henry Penn, from Brisbane Norths, previously played in the Newcastle comp. Sam Mataora is the Maitland marquee player and with the new recruitment they will be close to the points cap.
The Newcastle comp is back on with 6 teams in 1st grade and 7 in 2nd grade. Maitland will have their 2nd side playing in 1st grade and their 3rds in the reserve grade comp.
Steve Tavita has spent several seasons splitting his time between NSW Cup and RMC for Mounties but with so few clubs catering for the players this season he has had to drop to SS by joining Belrose.
