Do we then go another way and chase another former junior in Jason Saab (word has it we have inquired about him) he would come cheaper and then we can focus more funds to upgrading our forward pack?

If he wasn't a former junior, would the interest still be there?

Would he be better than what Souths currently have?
The fact that he's asked for a release out of a poor StGI side that he hasn't been playing for concerns me.

Souths currently have 5 first grade standard outside backs to fill 4 spots, 6 if we include Goodwin.
Edene Gebbie, Steve Marsters and Jaxson Paulo are also in reserve with a view to future seasons as well as a few others.
I've not seen Saab play but apart from his height, i don't see a reason to pursue him.

I watched Saab today playing for StGI and thought he looked soft.
He's tall and athletically gifted but doesn't carry himself like someone who is up for the challenge of playing NRL.

Mate,what we need is forwards, Arrow if you watch him this year isnt the answer, he is light weight and check out his carrys and meters, soft, we need 2 big goers titans next year will be a different team that storm forward is a mongrel, thats what we need. Mago is soft his got no leg speed dosent use his bulk,what a waste.

Lowe has been very disappointing and surely can't last long in the starting 13. Being dragged for the final 20 minutes isn't a good sign for him imo.

Problem is, WHO, everything is being banked on ARROW NEXT YEAR ,who isnt playing well, who the hell isnt recruiting? Why cant we find a couple of youngsters, tigers stole that big parra forward, titans paid 600 for an unknown monster who ripped them a second 1 last night,weve overpaid for Arrow,no wonder he grabbed it with both. We need size, and energy and quick, knight has massively underperformed,once he got a contract, ello cant be wholy in charge of recruitment and negotiation and able to do media as well,we are in the shit, i want niocore from parra.

Sironen or Sele could get a run there. Jack Johns is another current option.
The current forward options at the moment are very middle heavy.

IMO Souths should be looking at edge forwards, not middles.

Yes I agree, I think that might explain your theory of side to side ball shifts in the backs - there's no one seemingly able to punch holes on the edge like Sam and Johnny did. Jayden has been OK but it's not enough

I understand what you're saying but having 8/30 first grade spots taken by props doesn't tell me that Souths are short in numbers, but short in quality.
Problem is that players will need to be shed before any can be added.

An animal in the middle is only useful if they're athletic enough and fit enough to play at least 55 minutes a game. Any less than that is a waste of cap expenditure.

Look at Canberra as an example, they shed their big boppers and replaced them with smaller but more athletic forwards and they've not looked back.
