According to reports he wanted a clause that gave him the option of leaving at any time after 2 years into a 5 year deal. That makes things difficult for the club in its planning, members and fans.

I suppose he will end up a journeyman.

Desperate clubs like us will sign him short term to bolster finals chances.

A matter for him but he won’t have the benefits of place when his career is over.

Rugby league is about relationships and shared experiences. These are life long benefits, the giving once the party is over.

The fans who went to the Souths v roosters game have a bond even if they never meet.

Similar to when Kalyn Ponga joined Newcastle, Suaali has that star potential that Wests are currently lacking to justify the price tag.
It's just as much about the short term results as it is getting him into the club and holding negotiation rights in future seasons.
Depending on when the contract takes effect, Wests could effectively replace Josh Reynolds with Suaali.

From Sporting News,

Former Queensland and Australian centre Greg Inglis reveals thought of suicide entered mind during mental health battle

Former Storm and Rabbitohs centre Greg Inglis has conceded that the thought of suicide crossed his mind for a split second as he prepares for his rugby league return.

Inglis retired from the NRL last year while playing with South Sydney, moving into an ambassador and coaching role with the club.

Since then, the 33-year-old has struggled with his mental health as he deals with life after retirement, with the Queensland and Australian legend admitting that he hit 'rock bottom' after an incident during last year's Magic Round.

As he prepares for a rugby league return with the Warrington Wolves, Inglis has revealed to Channel Nine that the split-second thought of suicide was the catalyst for him receiving the necessary help.

“I was never to that point of actually doing it but it crossed my mind for a split second,” he said.

“That was enough for me to go out and need more help.

"If someone takes something out of my story, that's changing someone's life and hopefully that's one life saved."

Along with this, Inglis has opened up on the damaging effects that racial abuse had on his career after Titans forward Tyrone Peachey was allegedly racially abused by Knights second-rower Mitch Barnett on the weekend.

The 267-game veteran admits that it is still a 'massive problem' in Australian sport, struggling to understand why it continues to happen in 2020.

“It’s a massive issue in Australian sport,” he said.

“We live in 2020, we’re not living in 1720.

“It’s pretty s*** to be honest. You just think of your family, where you come from and your history. To be racially abused, it’s disheartening.

"I don't know if it's just a brain snap or just the way they've been raised. It's not something you pick up, it's something you're taught or been around."

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. It’s a buck each way, but I prefer the great club men.

Seems like we’ve had Reynolds up for sale for an eternity. Then we throw in $400,000 to boot and still no-one clicks on the bid now button.

So Madge recruited the rooster recruiter last year and he’s still going through the $1 store for next year
(Looking for discounts off already reduced players).

I think we lied to him about how much cash we had in the bank lol. He turned up first day, parked in his spot , then gets tolds we have a biro budget.

Well AJ got offered 400k to go to storm, the tigers played on his reluctance to leave sydney and offered 300k and they lost,if they had put up the 400 we would have lost AJ. Why go to tigers for 300k when u can stay at souths for 300k no contest

'Little bit of magic' - Bennett set to return as Maroons coach in 2020: https://www.nrl.com/news/2020/09/30...nnett-set-to-return-as-maroons-coach-in-2020/

Just in regards to Wayne and his likely new role with the Maroons, I'm all for it as long as it doesn't get in the way of his role with us. That's the key here. We simply cannot afford to have Wayne distracted by State of Origin and both us as a club and Wayne himself need to ensure that does not happen. We are about to start a Finals Series and the way we are playing currently, anything is possible so that needs to be his main focus. I'm confident Wayne can juggle both well though.

Great appointment for Queensland and if he can take something great from an Origin set up and apply it to us then it's a win, win.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs will continue to call ANZ Stadium home for the 2021 and 2022 seasons following feedback from the Club’s Members. The Rabbitohs will play nine home games each season at ANZ Stadium (pending a 12 home game, 12 away game season), a venue which the Rabbitohs have called home since 2006.

As in previous years and in addition to the nine games at ANZ Stadium each year, the Rabbitohs will take three home matches to regional areas to help spread the Rabbitohs spirit and take games to some of the heartland areas of Rugby League.

Rabbitohs CEO, Blake Solly, says Rabbitohs Members clearly regard ANZ Stadium as ‘home’.

“The feedback was very strong that our Members see ANZ Stadium and the new development at Moore Park as preferred options for us into the future, so it is a no-brainer for us as a Club to listen to our Members and lock in ANZ Stadium as our home stadium for at least the next two seasons,” Mr Solly said.

We’re looking forward to finishing off season 2020 in style and then focusing on delivering some fantastic match day experiences at ANZ Stadium in 2021 and beyond.

“We are continuing to work with the team at VenuesLive and the State Government on making sure our Members and supporters have a great experience every time they attend a game at ANZ Stadium, as well as exploring all options post-2022 when we expect the Moore Park development to be online. I also want to thank the Members for their patience as we have investigated all options in recent months.

“With our 2021 Membership packages set to go on sale on Wednesday 7 October, our Members can now sign up with certainty about the number of games they will get in their packages over the next couple of seasons, as well as certainty around where the games will be played.

“We’re looking forward to finishing off season 2020 in style and then focusing on delivering some fantastic match day experiences at ANZ Stadium in 2021 and beyond.”

ANZ Stadium CEO, Daryl Kerry, said he was delighted the Rabbitohs would be playing out of the Stadium in seasons 2021 and 2022.

“It was only last week that we watched in awe as the Rabbitohs racked up a record 60-8 score line against the Sydney Roosters and the energy and noise that the South Sydney Members and supporters created that night at ANZ Stadium, even with a restricted COVID capacity, will long be remembered,” Mr Kerry said.

Match Highlights: Rabbitohs v Roosters

“It has been a pleasure working with the South Sydney Rabbitohs Football Club since 2006 and we look forward to supporting the club and its Members throughout 2021 and 2022.

“The Rabbitohs have enjoyed great success at ANZ Stadium – including their Grand Final win in 2014 to bring up premiership No.21 – and we have been entertained by players who will be remembered among the long list of Rabbitohs club legends, players of the calibre of Greg Inglis, Sam Burgess, Cody Walker and Adam Reynolds.

“We have no doubt the Rabbitohs and their Members will enjoy further success at the Stadium in years to come.”

Fantastic news for us! Great to have our Home ground for the next two years set in stone. I'd like to see us head to the new SFS is 2023 but ANZ is a no-brainer until then.

From Sporting News,

Damien Cook talks up Souths teammate Campbell Graham for Origin

Damien Cook says his Rabbitohs teammate Campbell Graham is ready to play State of Origin next month if given the call-up by New South Wales coach Brad Fittler.

Graham's chances of earning an Origin debut were given a huge boost this week after Tom Trbojevic pulled out.

Trbojevic was named in Fittler's initial squad earlier this week, but pulled out on Thursday after failing to recover from a shoulder injury in time.

The decision leaves a centre spot open, with Graham, St George Illawarra's Zac Lomax and Panthers rookie Stephen Crichton all in the mix.

Broncos centre Kotoni Staggs was considered a near certainty to be named in the squad before tearing his ACL in Brisbane's last game of the season a week ago.

Speaking on Thursday, Cook said Graham is ready to play on the game's biggest stage.

"I've got a lot of respect for Campbell Graham, he's definitely one of our players of the year this year, he's very consistent," Cook said.

"A lot of people don't understand the hard work he does for us. He's great and strong in defence, but the carries and yardage he does for us, he does some tough carries and gets our sets off to a great start.

"He's someone I always look to as well when we might be in a bit of trouble.

"He always puts his hand up to do the hard work. If he got his chance there, he wouldn't disappoint."

Graham has scored 13 tries in 19 games in 2020 and 34 in 67 NRL matches since debuting in 2017.

In August, Fittler named Graham as a potential Origin candidate alongside the likes of Nick Cotric and Blake Ferguson.

Still just 21, Graham would be a bolter if selected, but said he's ready and willing to step up given the nod.

"Obviously it’s an opportunity I’d love to be a part of," he told 2GB last week.

"Any little opportunity like that would be huge for me.

"But there’s plenty of good talent in the outside backs for NSW at the moment. If these things happen they happen, but I know for that to come I need to focus on what I’m doing for Souths.”

Coming off a 60-8 demolition of the Roosters last week, the Rabbitohs have a home elimination final against the Knights on Sunday afternoon.

Crazy. But why publish it all now, rather than when it all happened nearly 2 years ago. Someone trying to de rail souths.. nupties are at it again
Again someone from the Roosters trying to derail Souths with gossip rubbish. Typical. Make an allegation and then the person has to prove its not true.

The person who made the allegation two years ago, her brother was connected to the Roosters, she fled to South Africa and refused to br interviewed by police or return for questioning.

Its easy in today's BS world to put a story out on the eve of a big game, by the time it is investigated, and found to be BS or highly exaggerated, the game is played and the impact done.

Tried to do it earlier with the Panthers and a sex scandal, the Bellamy to Storm doing the rounds, where's the stories on the Roosters? None - because someone there is creating this mess of trouble.

So Sam doesnt play with Souths anymore. How can we derail them, after they thrashed the crap out of us? Let's alledge everyone in the club from Rusty down is involved in a scandal coverup.

Maybe the sensible position is to take the view that because we weren’t there, we don’t know.

The papers weren’t there either and are relying upon other sources.

An d if the other sources got it wrong, or there was some mischief, then it just snowballs.

I remember Josh Reynolds and the snake who were entirely innocent and people wanted their head on a pike. Snake in particular suffered terribly. He was man of league at the time.

If he had recreational drugs and overdosed or whatever, that happens. It’s a silly choice to make. A temporary high for the risk of addiction and all of the issues that follow. Old druggos are a sad lot. Fried brains feraling along.

An assault can be something very minor such as grabbing an arm etc, it doesn’t have to be multiple smacks to the head. It can attract police charges etc.

So my mind is open and if it’s all true, it’s foolish.

And nobody talks about the good things he’s done for sick kids and charity etc. No headline or selling product with good news.

Mass legacy media is generally slimy and chock full of vested interests. That is why it is dying. Good f**king riddance.
