I’m getting impatient and a bit sick of it now too and there’s not much on the market.

Exactly bro I’d pick the phone up call Turner and bring him back on a cheaper deal. I’m a bit sad he left too, I thought he really put in this season and it was the best I’ve seen him play.

Pete with the upgrades we have done to Cook and most likely Murray plus Cody will get a bit of an upgrade too, plus now we are having to pay full salary for Roberts, Su’a and Lowe I’d be happy if we can get Arrow and another high quality forward, I’d settle for two, but even two looks like a real stretch right now and there just isn’t much on the market as we know.
Tuner is a dud player and i for one am glad he’s gone. He was soaking up a little chunk of our cap and after all his injury’s he never kicked on to become the player we all thought he would. I would rather see one of our kids get a run if we are short player.

Man I hope we can lock down arrow that kid is a gun. I watched half his games last season and he was the best player on the field by a country mile and I don’t just mean for the titans. If we can get him for this season we are a top 4 team again this season and competing for the comp again this coming season.

The issue would be the length of Sam and GI contracts taking them well into their 30's on very good coin imo. That's where the problems have risen.

I find it interesting that Solly only really said he's contracted to SSFC, nothing about feelings towards him.
Any CEO would have contracted those players for that long. It's not like would be playing at 36-37 like Gallon or Sutton. Sutto went that long because he had two / three years off altogether.

Well George dose not need replacing dose he ? The guy hardly played last year and when he did it was very limited minutes. Don’t get me wrong I love big George and always will after 2014 but he’s not been the same player since that grand final for some unknown reason.

As far as replacing Sam I’m afraid we can not as there is only one of him. That being said if we had the money in the cap I would still be after Fifta to replace him as I’ve not seen conformation he has signed with the pony’s yet.

I think you'll find that very few CEO's would offer contracts at that kind of value for that long to players entering or in their 30's.
Cam Smith had to hold out to get a second year on his most recent deal and even then I'm sure the second year is optional, Gallen's last few have been one year deals as were JT's in NQ. There is too much risk over 30 to offer term to a player, regardless of how good they are. Especially one with a history of knee problems and another whose body took a beating every week.

As unlucky as losing both Sam and GI to injury is, Souths have been very fortunate to get both off the cap. They still have to pay them both up to $5m over time though, aswell as the salaries for those who absorb the cap space. That's a lot of money for any Australian sporting club.

It isnt exciting when your losing though

If Souths drop out the 8, there are bigger problems at the club than player quality.
The pack is being identified as a weakness yet 4 of the 6 in a likely run on side were rep players in 2019, 3 of them internationals.

To be honest, I haven't heard anything about Arrow even coming. All the talk was if it's not next year, it will be in 2021. Well not one single word has been spoken anywhere about him. I'm starting to wonder if he's indicated he's staying at the Titans. Souths management have certainly gone a bit cold about it. I've got a feeling the Roosters have chucked their hat in the ring.
I think Pete that’s as we are trying hard to get him for 2020 and I think things may have hit a bit of a stalemate there, we definitely are interested in Arrow for sure, in fact I’d say by now just in the last couple of days we would’ve given him a formal offer. Rumours have been around elsewhere that Arrow is signed from 21 onwards.
And that's why I think this came out because I suspect Arrow will go to Roosters if he comes to Sydney.
I don’t think he will go to Easts, they’ve just locked up JWH and Taukaeiho and Radley has just been re-signed, I believe it’s Fifita Easts have been after.
The non signings are a worry,at this stage we will be lucky to make the top 13, we should have jumped hard on matterson.
I don’t think it’s as gloomy as that, but if injuries hit with our depth in the pack we could be in some real trouble, but surely we can’t get hit as hard by injuries in 2020. We just need our pack to hold their own and we will be right in a lot of games. I’ll be honest though, with what we have right now I’ve put a line through top 4. What is concerning me most is if Arrow doesn’t come early and the other thing I’m concerned by is we are very light on for good/solid second rowers.
People also love to put blame on Richo but I reckon Russell Crowe had a huge say in those resignings.
Many many at other clubs if they were in Richo’s shoes I reckon they’d have done exactly the same thing with Sam and GI.

We have lost quality and size, even though georges contribution was nonexistent, whenever sam didnt play we lost, if not for those first 10 games we would have finished a lot lower in the 8, no matter how you sugar coat it we are short in experience and talent, i shudder to think we could have offered 50k more and got matterson a direct swop for sutto and if arrow comes a swop for maybe george, the only one who could replace sam is fafita or TPJun who only signed a years extension, how in gods name can 1 team keep/pay all those forwards is beyond my understanding considering milfs on a mill birds on a mill and boyds on 800k corruption and paper bag stuff

Exciting times ahead boys no need to panic. I’m really looking forward to see who is going to put there hand up from our youngsters this coming season.
I don’t know if we have that many youngsters that are ready in the pack, Rodwell mainly played Flegg this year, apparently Koloamatangi is likely to be out til midway through next season.

Amone, Sironen, Dillon etc.... I believe are much closer to mid 20’s now and haven’t found their feet in first grade yet, we need them to step up but that’s the unknown. I’m confident re Amone but not sure on the other 2.

Whoever our defensive coach is will need to do a lot of work with Su’a on his defensive reads and tackle efficiency imo, plenty of potential but that’s what let’s him down.

Yes I see what you mean. But Sam got four years when he was 30 and Greg the same when he was 28. I don't think that's too bad when they are Sam Burgess and Greg Inglis. Best forward in the world and probably the best player the world has ever seen.

Cody every day of the week for me.
Nobody at Souths has had more try assists than Cody since he has entered first grade with 12 in 2016 (AR 13), 18 in 2017, 14 in 2018 and 16 in 2019 (Cook 18). It would be foolish of the club to let him walk.

At the time of those signings, Greg Inglis and Sam Burgess were the best players in the world. Who wouldn't sign them to long term contracts?
