You can't blame Richo for any of what happened with GI and Sam, can't blame him at all. At the time, everyone said "how good is this? The best players in the world and two club legends will finish their careers here!" They were the best players in the world when their deals were signed so why wouldn't you sign them long term on the money they deserve?

The fact is that you can't predict the future. I don't think anyone would have predicted that this would happen to GI or Sam. Absolutely no one would've picked it. Things don't always go the way you planned and in this case, we've just been very unlucky.

Souths would not be the club they are today without Richo and I stand by him 100%.

Interesting article from the Daily Telegraph. Good news about Cody if true but I don't believe it for a second that we can't fit both him and Mitchell under the cap, we should have plenty of space availible after everything that's happened.

I still maintain the opinion that I'd love to have Latrell here.

How Cody Walker’s future at South Sydney could impact Latrell Mitchell

Cody Walker is expected to agree to a new two-year extension at South Sydney — and the move could have big ramifications for Latrell Mitchell.

Cody Walker is expected to agree to a new two-year extension at South Sydney this weekend. But the move could all but eliminate any chance that Latrell Mitchell could also end up at Redfern next season.

Meanwhile, Jai Arrow’s future is also expected to be resolved in the coming days with the Rabbitohs hopeful the boom Gold Coast forward will give them a double pre-Christmas celebration to launch the club into the post Sam Burgess era.

But in the latest twist to the NRL player market circus, The Daily Telegraph can reveal that the Rabbitohs are now discussing the possibility of making a late play for the exiled Sydney Roosters’ star. This is despite the fact that the Rabbitohs were previously adamant Mitchell was not on their radar.

It is understood any potential interest is hugely dependent upon Walker’s decision.

The fact of the matter is that Souths just don’t have the salary cap space available to fit both Walker and Mitchell into the same roster, unless Mitchell was to take a massive pay cut.

Given the Rabbitohs’ depth of backline talent it would seem unlikely this could happen, and especially given the Wests Tigers are willing to pay Mitchell $1 million a season and let him play fullback.

The Gold Coast are also still in the frame and their interest could also be significantly influenced by what Arrow ends up doing.

But make no mistake there are people of influence who believe Latrell ultimately ending up at Souths is now not as ridiculous as it might have appeared just days ago.

It is a strange situation that is made all the intriguing by growing speculation that Mitchell’s relationship with his manager Wayde Rushton could be experiencing some difficulties.

It has even been suggested that the NRL now needs to step in and offer some guidance to try and get this situation resolved before Mitchell is due back at training in early January.

While Walker’s contract negotiations have now dragged on for the best part of a month, further talks on Friday between Souths and Walker’s agent Matt Rose had both parties confident they were now ready to strike a deal to keep the 29-year-old at the club until at least the end of 2022.

It is understood Arrow is struggling to make a decision on his future with his loyalty to his current Gold Coast teammates up against an enormous opportunity to move to Sydney and play at one of rugby league’s most famous clubs.

Those close to negotiations have shut down any suggestion that Arrow has made a decision either-way as of Friday.

Souths believe they have done all they can but at the end of the day it is Arrow’s decision to make.

While Mitchell still has a contract to play at the Roosters next year, the club have made their feelings known.

But the last place they probably expected he might end up when this all started would be at their arch enemies, and potentially playing for less than the $800,000 he was offered to stay at the Roosters.

Now wouldn’t that be another chapter for the Book of Feuds.

It isn't too professional bringing a player who has reserves about coming. More often than not, it turns out to be a disaster. And Souths don't need another disaster. It's not for me to sign players, nor suggest signings, but speaking from personal views I'd sign Walker, Mitchell and Boyd. My fealing is Boyd would get back to best under Wayne Bennett. No one can tell me he can't play. He played for Australia and is the Tank the young brigade already at Souths would feed off. That would leave the Four Million Dollar man in Arthritisville where it appears he wants to stay. If his love for them outweighs his love for his partner who wants desperately to come to Sydney to further his career, then add the fact the money and he's still umming and ahring, then my advice is don't bother with him. We don't want another mistake.

Arrow is showing more intelligence and maturity than most players when it comes to contractural negotiations. He is not saying anything and not manipulating the press. He may well be good to go with Souths but knows that he needs a release from Titans first and if he doesn’t get that release will have one more year with them. If that is the outcome he will be able to do so in the knowledge he has not bad mouthed anyone and does not have to win back anyone’s respect.

However if he gets that release he will be in Redfern the next day ready to go.

I think we will get him but am guessing that titans securing another signing is the first domino that has to fall.

With regard Mitchell the club needs to decide if they can be sure that he will be their kingpin for 5 or more years. If so we must get him now (never a better chance to get him). That might mean we go a gun forward short but would be well positioned to get a couple in 2021 by offloading some backs no longer needed.

If we can’t get a marquee forward I really think we can get value with Sorensen. He has the ability if given the opportunity.

I read in the Courier Mail recently, where Arrow said he'd much rather stay at the Titans then go to Souths. As soon as I read that, I thought then that's what you should do. And if he did, we'd get Cody signed and get Mitchell and Boyd. To me that's a lot better value than get a player who doesn't want to come.

Arrow is playing the game he hopes the titans will increase their offer he has told them what we have offered and he is giving them last say if they up it to within say 50k he will stay

Unfortunately i dont think it will, after next season they have 3 or 4 nonperformers off contract and they will have a large war chest they will fork it up you wait and see, unfortunately and it pains me greatly to say it we are in deep shit
Not really. Tatola, Knight, T. Burgess, Armone, Sorenson, Murray, Cook,Lowe,Sironon,Dillon and hopefully Boyd and a few of those up and comers, we can add to that. Like Boyd and Turner that will be enough for us. With Mitchell in the backs, that's a pretty deadly side.

Exactly how I feel Callmack.

I wouldn’t have done anything different.

I think some don’t Richo realise all the hard work Richo puts in behind the scenes for our great club!

I think Richo is very passionate in what he does for Souths.

Well it looks like Fifita is gonna stay in Brisbane, I can’t see why we wouldn’t be able to pay Latrell a deal of 800-850k for 21 onwards, I’m confident Richo won’t pay stupid money for Latrell as well, imo 1 mil would be overs and he’s not worth that.

Still if the rumours are true Tigers are still front runners.

Im willing to bet he wont sign,i hope im wrong, trying to sign anyone from up the border is nearly always a very hard task
His partner though is going to be working lots in Sydney, I think there is a pretty good chance he will come, I don’t believe every word re what the media write @Peter Quinn I would say in the background currently there is a bit of a stalemate if we can’t agree to a player swap for 2020 for Arrow in return.

that forward pack imo isn’t convincing enough for mine sorry Pete. Imo Latrell would be more limited in what he can do if we don’t have our pack winning the arm wrestle in the media.

Looking back on the past decade why we’ve done so well is off the back of strong pack, we have to be careful imo we don’t move away from that as we could head in the wrong direction......

Shannon Boyd I’d say no to as he gets out of puff after about 12mins and with there only being 8 interchanges imo he needs to be fitter than he is.
