To be honest i don't argue that. A fit Sam Burgess was fantastic and had very few peers at his level.
Unfortunately a fit Sam Burgess is no longer an option.
Whoever comes in to the club and plays in his place shouldn't be viewed as his replacement. The club can't replace a player like Sam. Or GI. Or Churchill.
For what it's worth, i actually view Liam Knight as Sam's successor in terms of being an enforcer.
Liam has the opportunity of a life time. If I was him, I'd weight up and get a bit more aggressive. Not illegal aggression, just toughness.

I do have some news for you guys, I saw this lady today she’s a friend of mine about my age, she is good friends with some Easts players and her and her whole family love the club, they have several inside sources at Easts but could just give me a little.

They told me all this stuff in the media re Latrell is true, he badly wants to come to Souths and he doesn’t wanna play for any other club. That’s all they gave me but that was enough!

I’m pretty confident we will get Latrell lads, I’m 97percent confident, just a matter of when now.

I think we are just waiting to see what Arrow does.

Worst case scenario is we get Latrell but not til 2021 onwards.

He will play fullback for us and will be better imo than our fullback options we have right now.

I can’t see AJ staying at Souths either, at the latest he will be gone at end of 2020 season I reckon.

Just on Addo Carr, looks like Storm are playing hard ball with him, I think Addo Carr 2021 onwards will go back to the Tigers, for us to have a chance it’s probs mean Gagai has gone elsewhere which I can’t see happening at this stage unless a club wants to take him off us for 700k and play him at centre.

@Peter Quinn i know you have a few sources at Souths..... can you give us anything re Latrell? Rumours have been it’s been Richo who has had his doubts but that Wayne and Rusty want Latrell.

I'm sure Wayne wants him and any chance of snaring A Star rooster Russell would be up for. I can't comment on Richo because he keeps cards close to his chest. More importantly, three quarters of the top 30 players want him there. Do I think he will be at Souths next year? YES!!

If Rusty wants LM Rusty will do everything possible to get him.

I would way rather have an athletic mobile forward than a big lump. Boyd has potential yes but so does Dave Taylor. These bigger forwards struggle to contain the athletic outside backs as well. I don’t think size = enforcer. Sam wasn’t really that big compared to the rest of the NRL.
I think its called HEART

The current premiership middles

JWH 192cm 108cm
SST 184cm 101kg
Liu 187cm 103kg
Tetevano 186cm 107kg

Shannon Boyd has never averaged more minutes in a season than Liam Knight has for Souths. In fact, Boyd averages less than 40 minutes per game. Earning an estimated $600k per season for the next 3 according to ZT. That's a lot of money to have spending more time on the bench than on the park.

These days outside backs look after their own . Forwards take charge of the middle. But I do remember big McCarthy standing out wide a fair bit ages ago.

There’s too many set plays in the now brother plus I still have nightmares about Chee-Kam running straight through our middle to seal the game for the tigers. I don’t think bigger forwards are gonna stop that.
