Maloney hasn't entered a plea yet.
Given its a 1 week suspension with an early plea or an unsuccessful challenge at the judiciary. Throw in he thinks he is still a chance for Origin, I say he challenges it.
He has nothing to lose.

Because he’s been our best half. Drop Maloney and start working on Cleary/Luai now. Maloney’s far more likely to walk of he isn’t getting picked. Dropping Cleary and Going for a few weeks of Luai/Maloney before getting rid of Maloney mid season and bringing Cleary back up to pair with Luai is your most confusing suggestion yet.

I'd drop both if we were able too but the rules how they are one needs to stay. Like Mansour and RCG he doesn't seem to be getting out of it in the top grade... So no other option

All the stats show Maloney is ahead of Cleary everywhere [ except missed tackles] so the reasons that Maloney should be dropped also apply to Cleary.Opposition teams also run at Maloney more than Cleary. We will see how the team goes without Maloney next against the Eels. IMO both should be in the lower grades.

Top 30 squad doesn't allow for both to be dropped. So one at a time but we changed FB, hookers still no change. So next is halves

Outside of being our dominant kicker stats have Cleary level or ahead of Jimmy in most areas. Having a quick look at NRL.com :

Nathan has more linebreak assists (5 to 3). The same amount of try assists (4 each). The same amount of tries (2 each). He has more offloads (13 to 2). He has conceded less penalties (3 to 13). Missed less tackles (everyone in the comp has). Nathan has engaged the line 77 times to Maloneys 66. Nathan has been a player in support 126 times to Jimmys 91.

Jimmy does have an extra 400 kicking metres for the season. More line dropouts. More kicks.

It's not pretty reading for either of them. But stats show Jimmy is our most penalised player, has missed the most tackles and his output is no better than Nathan with ball in hand. Stats aren't kind for Nathan but they show he puts more effort in than Jimmy and is less of a liability.

Luai in for Jimmy wont fix our attack in all likelihood. Chances are we suck about the same no matter who is in our halves. But defensively we should be slightly better off. Before last week I would have said massively better off. But Luai was pretty poor defensively being carried 15 metres over the try line. Honestly there's a terrible attitude in this team that is contageous. No one cares. Not really.

The stats don’t show that at all.

What makes you so sure Nathan can turn it around leaving it as it was? Look at Mansour 21 errors dropped and not one single when dropped. Sometimes needing a stint in the lower grades is a good thing

Much more beneficial to work on the combination with Luai if that is the plan going forward

No errors and suddenly he's improved? NRL stats have him with zero defused kicks. Which is one of his biggest issues outside of being incredibly slow.

What's the point in dropping someone to do well in lower grades only to go back to sucking in first grade?

Its not improving our NRL side either as we haven't got anyone who can improve our team in reserve grade. We dont have any eligible players with the size and speed we lack. The roster has been so badly mismanaged by Gus. The coaching staff was mismanaged by our board. The players are being ruined by our coach..

Its rotten across the board with no easy fix.

I don't know whether Josh Mansour will come straight back.

Personally I think RCG certainly has too. RCG in for either Grant or Leota take your pick.

Poor old Moses is suffering again this season from a lack of minutes. There is a good player in there somewhere but the lack of faith in him from our former coach an now Cleary is really hampering his development.

No errors is certainly better than the 21 he has so far in the top grade. All about building form and confidence when guys like that are dropped. I have said all along when you drop someone like Mansour it is a 3-4 week thing. Want to see a few consistent performances before they go back up

Both need more then a good performance. Back it up this week then bring them up

Does not matter who your halves are until you sort your 9.

Egan has shown the most potential and signed for a few years.

He must start playing 80, and instructed to run the offense from dummy half, no more shoveling. Don't even look at the halves they are the polish.

Listen to your board member Brandy.

I would go:
  1. Daine Laurie or buy externally (MUST be a ballplayer)
  2. Brian To’o
  3. DWZ or buy externally (Katonni Staggs, Jesse Ramien, James Roberts, Curtis Scott to name a few)
  4. Waqa Blake
  5. Allan Fitzgibbon (don’t think he would be able to play first grade yet next year so probably DWZ and use a centre from within)
  6. Jarome Luai
  7. Nathan Cleary
  8. Buy externally (MUST be consistently good and like the post above said, aggressive)
  9. Buy externally (experienced, leader and 80 min hooker)
  10. James Tamou
  11. Viliame Kikau
  12. Isaah Yeo
  13. JFH
14. Wayde Egan (purely as utility, not for a hooker rotation, would get a better utility from externally if we have spare cash)
15. Liam Martin
16. RCG
17. (Choose from within, Grant, Lui-Toso, Ellis etc.)

RCG, Maloney and Cleary and the three highest paid yes? Tamou might be there too.

Maloney is certainly gone. RCG would have to be 99% certainly gone. That should provide some relief to the cap. Tamou probably stays as he is having his best year at Penrith to date but still overpaid.

N.Cleary/Jon Snow won't go anywhere unfortunately. To the end.
