I heard from a contact at Souths that prior to then signing Arrow we were trying to swap Packer for Gagai.I can’t c Souths having any interest in mcqueen although Packer moving to redfern is conceivable especially as Bennett had shown interest in him when he was coach at broncos.

would definitely take that swap, as long as we get origin Gagai and not Knights/Souffs Gagai

If we are able to get BJ and Doueihi then that gives us great depth imo. I really enjoyed Doueihi at fullback at the back end of last season. For him to get pushed into a foreign role after injury and leading into the playoffs, is a big ask but I thought he performed mightily well and maybe what impressed me the most was the way he put his body on the line, especially that prelim game vs Canberra. The kid has ticker and that's the type of player we want at our club.

The only problem we have now is that we have no decent lock. Eisenhuth looks likely to get the nod for the start of the season but he doesnt excite me one little bit. We are likely to field Twal, Mikaele, Aloiai, Clark as well which is a pretty immobile pack but something that Madge has been able to make work in the past. Fingers crossed it can work for us...

Matterson was really starting to come of age at lock for us, shame he was a dog merkin. I’d be open to trying Twal at lock he seems to have a big motor anyway

Matterson at lock forward is a great option. I think he is better in the middle than on the edge. He is more of a work horse throughout the game.

The only thing with losing him is I reckon we have a bunch of players who can fill that middle forward worker type role. I reckon Eiesnhuth, Twal, Taylor and maybe even Seyfarth could fill that role.

For props I'd have 4 guys that can all belt it up and dent the line. Mikaele, Aloiai, Musgrove & hopefully Stefano. Those 4 guys assuming Stefano comes on would give us a great prop rotation. Then you have a worker type playing long minutes and potentially being replaced by someone like Chee-Kam for a short stint or even rotating those props to play a little longer than 1/2 game.

I like the way our pack is progressing. Matterson would have been great for us but in some ways he is more replaceable mainly due to our pack having so many worker middle forwards.

Matterson is also a ball player, iirc he played in the halves all juniors so he has a knack for creativity. These days your Mattersons, Turbos, Radleys and Murray’s are your prototype locks. The ones that can get through a mountain of work and can also ball play when needed.

We will miss him immensely hate him or not, but best to move on

He is a quality player and we will miss him. With him at lock I think our pack looks like a great pack. He could have led us as well. He also doesn't have many mistakes in his game whereas our middle forwards who dent the line much better than him do have mistakes in their games.

I still think though losing a worker type middle forward (he can also ball play and he is good at that) isn't as bad compared to losing a quality player in lots of other positions.

Some lifetime accomplishments are more modest than others ...so if those 2 points saved were his life's work then i thank him for the effort

I’m always giving it to our opponents.

I told Chricton he’d become useless at the roosters and he should back to Souths.

He gave me a hidden figure which I deserved and to which I laughed loudly.

Its nothing personal, he’s a frigging gun.

I keep the “encouragement” about the footy, not the bloke underneath or their private shite.

Im going to ask Latrell pay us back the petrol money to Taree.

Did he give you the finger?

Yep. Turned around, wiggled his fingers and gave the bird. Lol.

as I said, he’s a top bloke and it was funny.

@Mr Angry hes right about the fan/player relationship. It’s very deep in its own way.
They are all heroes to me. It’s a brutal game. A lot of them, they earn crap for what they go through.

I’d rather get the finger than be ignored lol.
