There was talk on here that Packer may have been part of the trade for Doueihi, does anyone have anything on this?

1. Doueihi
2. Nofolauma
3. BJ Leilua
4. Mbye
5. Thompson

6. Benji
7. Brooks

8. Mikaele
9. Grant
10. Twal
11. Garner
12. L Leilua
13. Eisenhuth

14. Aloiai
15. Musgrove
16. Chee-Kam
17. Reynolds

That is my team at the moment. It looks a lot better than last year to me. I reckon our prop rotation is going to be beast mode when we get Stefano.
Solid team, but I think Packer will be in the squad.

No idea if it's true but Bennett lamented not getting him up to Brisbane as soon as he was cleared to play by the NRL..that was a much younger pre "wounded knee" Packer though...but..if he's training as well as has been mentioned then its very possible... we may get ourselves a bit more cap wiggle room to duke it out with the chooks over JAC??
Wouldn't that annoy the neighbours. ...

No I think Lawrence will be a depth player in his last season with us.

And I agree with 05. There is MUCH more upside with out young forwards than Packer.
The only reason I can see playing Packer is to see if someone wants to take him off our hands for 2021.

I don't see Packer as being one of our top props. Musgrove, Aloiai, Mikaele & Twal are a good prop forward rotation. Eisenhuth at lock is a big body with some ball playing ability and he is mobile and can play reasonable minutes.

I think Taylor is also unlucky to miss out. He is good as well. I just see Eisenhuth as offering more offense mainly because of his size.

Chee-Kam has to be on the bench. Garner and LL are the best options for those edge positions. I don't think we can have Chee-Kam and Lawrence on the bench.

It's a tough decision but I think you have to do it. I am a Lawrence fan as well.
Depending on Luciano's fitness etc I think we could see him coming off the bench earlier in the season with MCK starting. Ideally going forward Luciano will start with MCK off the bench which I think is his best role, coming on for impact and also being able to cover various positions.

I have the exact same team but swapping Reynolds for Taylor

I read it on the main forum a few days ago. Could just be a bit of fluff, but I do know for a fact Bennett was keen on Packer when he was coaching broncos so who knows really.

Tbh with a majority of our forward pack being on the young side I’m kinda hoping he stays (as long he doesn’t bludge his way through the season) for experience alone

Yeah Packer is an interesting one. We don't really have any experienced Forwards in our top 17. If Packer can get back to his best then I see no reason why he can't be in starting 13. Just his presence in the middle of the field will inspire the young guns. But the caveat is IF he gets back to his best. We have plenty of in-experienced forwards who are punching well above their weight and holding their own

Well... we did have Aaron Woods

I do think a fully fit Packer will benefit us immensely though. I still remember when he made JWH his bitch in his debut game for us and...it all went down hill a few weeks after that. Either way, our young crop of forwards are gelling together nicely. They like to talk up the young Bronx pack but I think ours are up there if not better

iirc we beat them last year up in Brisbane and our forwards were insane that night.

Tbh I think we're going to have one of the better benches and especially front row rotations going around this season. I know they're relatively inexperienced but the likes of Mikaele, Twal, MCK and especially Aloiai can only get better, and if Madge can light a fire underneath Packer and Musgrove... Even better!

Everyone seems to be picking Musgrove but he last played first grade footy in 2017! I would be very surprised if he walks straight into the team

For a long time, we were bitchin and moanin about lack of pace, lack of height, lack of mongrel, etc. Not saying we were wrong, of course . . .
As it stands, we have essentially added 6 "new" faces into our side.
Backs: Talau, BJ and AD.
Forwards: The Storm kid, Musgrove, Luciano.
Reality is . . . that injection of personnel alone gives us a lot of criteria we were missing.
Add the potential of Cini, Mavoni and some of the other bright young guys we have . . . . things aren't so bad after all.
I hope.

Talk Souths are talking to us about a back for a forward deal. Only name thrown around is the PNG no1 who plays for Souths. I think Souths want one of our young guns but we want to clear a couple of other contracts

We’ve offered Mcqueen & Packer. If it happens it will b Packer for 1 season until Arrow arrives as Souths r not interested in Mcqueen.Souths need a middle forward & we could do with a winger as part of a trade.
