And a brickbat for the ref. He saw Tetevano's shoulder charge but couldn't see simple Jack's professional foul.

A game to effectively start the season with players who don’t regularly play with each other, played in the wet. It’d be a ridiculous expectation to ask anything of higher quality than that.

Footy is back and that’s what matters.

Can’t see why anyone would bag the teams there. Apart from Alexander in commentary.

Ive never watched gogglebox, hate the concept but I’d give it one chance to watch football fans react to his commentary so he realises what a squeaky toy of a commentator he really is.

Ref forced them to kick for goal, nothing stopping them setting up for the goal kick, but kicking it across field for the winger short kickoff style. Wasted chance to introduce a new tactic to the game.

Oh, FFS! I just went through my night routine checking Fox before I went to bed and here is "the world reaction to the Indigenous game with the passion of Isaac Luke the high point. Maybe 10 years ago, now just a prima-donna more famous for his BS haka salute to RTS a couple of years ago than anything he's done on the field in many years.

Well actually it is against the rules to pretend to kick for goal (section 6, Rule 11), penalty to the other side. You can place kick though, but you have to tell the ref you are place kicking and not attempting a goal. Jack Gibson had his sides doing this many years ago.

That result was way too pc for my liking. Almost felt like I was watching reality tv.
The Samoan Australian Kiwi, former Junior Kiwi captain, Samoan international representative, current NSW Origin hopeful did the kick for the Maori that allowed the Indigenous team to get down into the Maori half so they could kick the equalising points instead of scoring the winning try which was 99% guaranteed.

So yeah, I maybe agree with you.

No, that's not quite correct. If you say nothing to the referee, its legal to kick it across field, or anywhere else for that matter. If, however, you tell the Referee you are shooting for goal, then the rule you cited applies.

Rationale is that because you have told the referee you are shooting for goal, he has had the touch judges take up position behind the dead ball line, and hence are out of position.

Born Sydney, junior club St Marys, grandparents Samoan Maori. I'm not sure how he qualified for the Junior Kiwis though.
