Based off the stadium capacity and number of games I have seen on here, if every game sells out
778,800 will attend the world cup. That's an average of 25,123 per game.

I believe the organisers are aiming for 750,000 attendance

If they can get 40,000 to an opener in Newcastle I would consider that a massive win. But it would only allow 16,000 empty seats at the rest of the tournament if those figures are correct. That in my opinion is very optimistic.

Just getting over a 20k average would be a first. 25 would be absolutely huge.
I'd say no games under 10k would also be great but Workington's new stadium capacity is reported to be 8k

I'm still pissy about the way 2017 was mishandled. Poor venue choices, poor match scheduling, poor promotion.
If it wasn't for the pure luck of the Tonga defections masking the damage it would be spoken about like the 2000 event.

The 'pots' system indicates that it will be either totally or at least semi-random. It would be pointless to even have pots/seedings if you were just gonna pick every game manually anyway.

I say semi-random because I think you can select a *limited* number of marquee games from each pot and pool without sacrificing any legitimacy (since it's entirely possible for the same draw to come out randomly).

I meant pick from the pots system, so for example if the pots were:
A - Aus, Eng, NZ, Ton
B - Fij, Sam, PNG, lebanese
C - Fra, Wal, Jam, Ire
D - Sco, Ita, Rus, USA

They could go well we'd rather Samoa or Fiji for the opener than PNG or Lebanon, so we'll put one of them in England's group, and the other with Tonga so we can have the islander rivalry game. Then the other two in England's group to be some combination of France ,Wales, Ireland, Scotland and Italy to have a better chance of attracting big crowds to the Sheffield and Bolton games.

The emirates, arsenals ground has a double header semi....major shock that.
More ‘spud nonsense
Interesting mix of venues. Surprised South Yorkshire got featured so much and that Bolton got in over Wigan.
Also that Doncaster,Leigh and Workington got three games each. i would have thought those small games are the low risk ones you could spread around the place a bit more in places like York, Keighley, Hull KR etc. All in all a good line up though with plenty of potential for innovative ticket packages to boost crowds and ensure we fill both big and small venues.

Time to get started on talking the wife into a trip back to see her parents in two years!
Are you both Cod ‘eads?

I think they are on the average, great venues. This World Cup will make money which is really the most important thing. The caliabre of venues is excellent.

Selling the tickets will be a daunting task. After how slick the presentation was yesterday, I’m confident it is in good hands.
Hopefully they will have a good long lead in when tickets do go on sale. This way people will use the time and maybe buy tickets as and when they get paid or receive them as Christmas or Birthday presents.

Some contribution there...

Be nice to the guy, he is obviously a frustrated chemist, who wants people to know, K is the symbol for the chemical element potassium.
Either that or he is 2 Ks short of the KKK.

I am more than happy with the geographical spread of venues.Playing it safe in the north to maximise crowds, and getting Coventry on board is a good move.
It makes the 2017 Cup seem like aa local district event.
If they don't make decent loot on this one, then Putin should nuke the organisers.

Well some interesting choice of venues and now there's been videos on Facebook and Instagram about each city and venue and I can tell you its got me excited that I so want to be there in 2021.

Not only have they gone to cities with strong RL history but also gone to big sporting cities that would potentially show a lot of interest in the game.

Places like Newcastle and Liverpool I expected given they have been playing games there recently and how big they are with sport. They even showed Ian Rush, former Liverpool Great, in the one of the videos of how exciting to have a world cup game there.

Emirates Stadium is an interesting choice for London, wouldve expected say Olympic Stadium but this stadium isnt too bad for Semi Final.

We hope we can get good crowds for each game.

Given how successful the 2013 tournament was for crowds, I'm confident this tournament will do well.

The International game has come a long way since the 2000 World Cup where it was played at venues with very little league interest.

It’s probably not a bad thing that Olympic stadium didn’t get it.
West Ham fan have not been signing it’s praises since they became tenants.
Emirates is custom built rectangular stadium whereas the Olympic stadium is a slightly better version of ANZ.

Will you be allowed to sink piss in your seat or will it be restricted to the terraces?

That was an unwelcome surprise on my recent visit. I think Elland Rd allowed it but Hull KCOM and Old Trafford did not. Don't remember whether Wembley did

We’re these all games of league?
It’s outright banned when it comes to football.

All RL

Wembley CC Final, dont remember
Old Trafford SL GF, pretty sure terrace only
Hull KCOM England Test 1, terrace only
Elland Rd England Test 3, beers allowed in seats despite signs saying terrace only

I think it was the Grand Final, i rocked up with not heaps of time to spare, bought 2 beers so I don't have to line up again, then remembered I have to drink them both before seating. Kick off in 4 minutes....

I’m not sure then. I always thought it was allowed at both codes of rugby but maybe it’s at each venues discretionl/licence.

Its very unusual not to be able to drink in your seat at a RL gam ein UK. In fact I haven't been to any that you cant including the CC final (except for a short time at the Hull derbies after some bother but that didnt last long)

It wasn't the width of the spread but the quality that was absolutely shite

Which do you consider not up to quality? There was only Darwin and Cairns that weren't decent stadia imo
Australia doesn't have rich soccer clubs like in the UK so will always have a dearth of top quality rectangular stadiums in comparison.

It s areal shame port moresby isnt 25k plus as that would have certainly boosted the crowd avg for the tournament.
