Just to add too...

Our government has given us a £10m/$18m grant for the comp....that in its self won't be far away from paying for the comp...so all ticket sales, merch revenue and media rights is pure profit

Paying closer attention, there's a clear pattern to the stadium choices.
There are 8 games a round. 6 lower capacity stadiums are used 3x in the pools, and 6 high capacity stadiums used once.
So each round will have 2 marquee games at 30k stadiums. While the most minnowy games will likely go to Workington and Leigh Sports.

I think they are on the average, great venues. This World Cup will make money which is really the most important thing. The caliabre of venues is excellent.

Selling the tickets will be a daunting task. After how slick the presentation was yesterday, I’m confident it is in good hands.

I agree more or less. Australia and NZ will be at the bigger venues.

I'll bet England get Samoa or Fiji for the opener. I'd say they'll try and create a bit of a 'home' side for locals to get behind and have at least 2 of their games at a particular stadium - Scotland will have 2 games at Workington for example. They did this with Fiji at Rochdale and PNG at Hull last time.

Have they said if the draw will be fully random or not? Wonder if they'll risk that or try and get the best match-ups to maximise crowds.

I dont mind if this isn’t ambitious with new locations. If we can just get a WC with good crowds, it will be great...

We can be ambitious with other comps (9s for example), i dont mind going for the “fish in a barrel” approach for the WC.

So who's flying over from Aus?

I'm flying over in a month's time. I went to 2013 and it was great.

If they had the Confederations Cup thing they talked about you could see new places while not missing out on the only major RL tournament in the world. Here's hoping 2025 is not in Australia.

Based off the stadium capacity and number of games I have seen on here, if every game sells out
778,800 will attend the world cup. That's an average of 25,123 per game.

I believe the organisers are aiming for 750,000 attendance

The 'pots' system indicates that it will be either totally or at least semi-random. It would be pointless to even have pots/seedings if you were just gonna pick every game manually anyway.

I say semi-random because I think you can select a *limited* number of marquee games from each pot and pool without sacrificing any legitimacy (since it's entirely possible for the same draw to come out randomly).

Interesting mix of venues. Surprised South Yorkshire got featured so much and that Bolton got in over Wigan.
Also that Doncaster,Leigh and Workington got three games each. i would have thought those small games are the low risk ones you could spread around the place a bit more in places like York, Keighley, Hull KR etc. All in all a good line up though with plenty of potential for innovative ticket packages to boost crowds and ensure we fill both big and small venues.

Time to get started on talking the wife into a trip back to see her parents in two years!

Re: 3 games in Workington, etc. Guessing for the investment being asked for by RLWC, councils wanted more than 1 low draw game for their trouble. Bit of give and take.
