We have Mann, Hunt and Lee who have been called up by QLD in the last two seasons. Our whole backline could have been the QLD backline.

Yeah, meanwhile the NSW backline has about $3.5 million a year crammed into it. It's not even fair.

You've gotta feel for the bloke.. Hopefully he'll still get his chance to hold up the shield.

On a positive note though, he probably needed a rest and as long as there's no fracture of the rib, he'll only miss a couple of games. I doubt he would have played against the Storm anyway.

Haas to the starting side, Finucane to the bench. I don't see why Jsaf would be in the picture. Maybe if he keeps playing the way he is and improving his name gets tossed about next year.

I actually think Hunt might have gotten a game for QLD this year if he hadn’t been injured. The fact that Hammer gets selected at centre is laughable.

Not too bothered that DSaf won’t play Origin III as it might give him a chance to freshen up a bit and heal the injury. I don’t think it matters whether he plays against Melbourne as I can’t see us winning that either way. Hopefully he’s fit for the following week though.

I’ve been to all Origin games in Brisbane since 2011 (I splurge because I can rarely attend Newcastle games) and the atmosphere is always outstanding.

With Kurt Mann at 18th man for QLD, it got me thinking. I was of the opinion Mann was close to the worst player in the NRL. Was I wrong? How does everyone think he is good enough to not only get a renewed contract here, he gets picked for QLD.

Were we being too tough on the lad this season? Or is QLD really that desperate??

He's been diabolical for much of the season. They are that desperate. He's not a 5/8th, he's not a fullback. Maybe he can find a way in the centres where he's far enough away from the ball, but even then I'm not sure he offers much more than very average. His only asset is his effort, which coaches love... but I'd certainly argue you want some talent to go with it in any case.

Effort and versatility, because he doesn't excel in any one position there's a perception he can sort of play anywhere. I do think centre is his best spot and he could've been a very good centre if he was about 10kg bigger or had abit more speed. Defensively credit where it's due the edge defence has improved since he's been moved to the centres

Tuala has been better than Mann over the last three weeks, but it seems he can only play on the left and is a dumpster fire on the right. Mann is serviceable on the right. In any case, we're looking to sign a centre because Mann isn't the answer there (or anywhere)
