This is the concern I have with Fitzy.
Holbrook and O'Brien both learned their trade under Robinson and, from memory, were considered "the next big things" in coaching prior to their appointments.

Neither of them is setting the world on fire to this point.
You know that the counter action to that is Paul Green also learnt under Robinson, and he won a premiership and got a JT-less team to a GF.
Alas though he too has also fallen.
Your point is a good one and I would think that every Sharks supporter underneath hopes that Fitz isn't like the others.
Craigsharks point is very valid, none of these assistants have done the time that Fitz has, the one thing they all have in common is that they jumped at the chance to Coach 1sts, Fitzy took his time and then chose the club that he saw the most potential in.

Holbrook is a very good coach. No team has ever - nor will ever - succeed on the Gold coast.
In any code.
Plus the fact he has meninga there in such a high role speaks of the challenge that poor bloke is up against.

Holbrook and O'Brien have taken on clubs with entrenched losing cultures. They will take time to turn into stronger organisations. Both clubs have very soft underbelly's that mean they fold when it gets tough.

The Sharks have a much stronger base to work with. Strong junior league, good record of making finals over the past 9 years, improving financial position. No doubt the hard edge Flanno/Gal culture has gone and we are all to aware of the frailties of the current squad.

Fitzgibbon will bring his own defensive minded culture and should have the cap resources to assemble a squad that can match his approach. What that means for results in the short to medium term is anyone's guess. Personally, we have much more reason for optimism than the vast majority of clubs.

Amen to Smith. Hes been very very good every first grade outing hes had
According to zero tackle , Billy Smith is off contract next season , if they are correct i would be very happy for him to fill a centre for us , wouldn't cost a fortune either . Like everything i've seen the last 2 weeks .
