These journos should revisit the 2020 GF, watch how many times Bellamy had the game stopped for fake HIA, (coincided with the Panthers getting some momentum), but its OK for Bellamy because News Corp. part owns the Storm.
Melbourne did everything it could to slow down the game in the last 15 minutes when they were under the pump, which is why they finished with 11 men on the field.

With all the media hate that will be coming this week over the officiating against Parra I have a feeling we are going to get arse raped with no foreplay or lube by the officials against the Storm.

It's already started. May as well forfeit the match, hey?

But that's 'gamesmanship'. Others do it and it's cheating.

Also, Ivan this weekend will coach his 172nd match for Penrith, which will overtake Royce Simmons' record of 171.

This is premiership matches only, doesn't include the 6 WCC matches from 1997.

Our trainer f**ked up, the touchie f**ked up, and the ref may or may not have f**ked up depending on whether he is required to check that the touchie did his job or not.

It's pretty straightforward. All this defensive "but what about incident X 10 games ago" is just petty. There was a f**k up that went in our favor. Shrug and move on instead of trying to justify it with conspiracy theories.

Most people can live with refs making a mistake or not seeing something when it's 100 miles per hour.
But when it's a matter of getting the law wrong, or not applying their own policy/process it is a lot less paletable.

Pete Green did the wrong thing by requesting the game to be stopped when he hadn't been on the field to check Mitch Kenny. But the trainer isn't in charge of the match, the referee is. To me this is akin to a player saying "Knock on ref", and the ref saying "oh OK. Let's have a scrum then" - and then when it's revealed that the ref got duped, suspending the player.

I imagine the touch judge communicated to the ref to stop the game - and there was probably very little time in between that message being delivered, and the whistle being blown (so little, that the video ref was unable to intervene). In that case the touchie is to blame. He should have held his tongue, waited until the trainer got onto the field to the player, and then got on the mic to stop it. Probably only one more tackle for the Panthers to make to be fair.

The ref and touchie will go through untouched by this, and the NRL will make an example out of us - but it's an error made of their own design. The NRL have made a policy for trainer stoppages that wasn't followed properly (twice).

100% agree. Green is in the wrong, having a track record doesn't help and the tsunami of salt against Penrith and easy newpaper inches on offer don't help.

Fact is just like Fergo, who appealed to the referee for an unfair advantage when he knew he wasn't owed one for the 'crusher', Green appealed to the match officials and they obliged. Unsportsmanlike yes, suspendable no.

I usually enjoy this time of the year. The wonderful build-up to finals matches. Usually, get some good stories coming out and reminisce about old games.
This year has been nothing but a bitch session from the media. Nit-picking and whinging. Making mountains out of molehills.
Regretfully I will be tuning out all week till kick-off.

perhaps an obvious thing however PSA to markers defending our line: please anticipate Brandon Smith to dummy & barge over. stay low to get underneath him & numbers on top to ensure he doesnt wriggle his way out.

Annesley just said that the ref is obliged to stop the game once the touchie relays the request from the trainer to him. The implication being that the injury is serious.

He also said that, in his opinion, the high shot penalty against Will Smith before half time was correct, the incident where Niukore was penalised for tackling JFH without the ball was correct, the incident where Momirovski forced Gutherson to lose the ball was correct, although it could have been a knock-on, the Stone pass from dummy half called a knock on was in line with decisions made all season, and the Luai pullback on Moses after the Ferguson break should have been a penalty.

Finally, of the 7 penalties against Parra, 5 were mandatory, either high shots, or tackled without the ball or offside. Discretionary penalties were 2-all.

Kenny was seriously injured. It took 2 trainers to get him off the field. Annesley also said at times the assessment can be done without training getting to the player. Kenny was writhing around in dreadful pain. The suggestion that the injury wasn't serious is laughable.
