I'm pretty confident I've got it correct, despite the 'official' scoreline!
In the absence of an on-screen scoreboard and timeclock, I was marking down who scored and how all game.
The order in which the teams scored is:

Serbia: try, conversion. Serbia 6-0
Spain: penalty goal. Serbia 6-2
Spain: try, conversion. Spain 8-6
Serbia: try, conversion. Serbia 12-8
Spain: try, conversion. Spain 14-12
Serbia; try, conversion. Serbia 18-14
----
halftime
----
Serbia: try, conversion. Serbia 24-14
Serbia: try. Serbia 28-14
Spain: try, conversion. Serbia 28-20
----
fulltime
----

I don't have the times that they scored as, like I said, there was no timeclock visible and I didn't think to mark that down until it was too late!

That goalkicker from Serbia's a bit of a sharpshooter too! A lot of the tries were scored out wide and he nailed nearly every attempt.

Watch some of those goal kicks again.. There were a couple that looked wide, BOTH touches put their flag up, and the ref says no! The short posts were playing tricks with perspective..
I'm quite sure this happened twice and that's the scoring discrepancy between you and official.

Yeah, that's a fair call. I saw a couple that, from what I saw, looked well wide, but the touchies looked at eachother and put their flags up.
That's when I marked them down. Thanks mate.

How hard is watching a game without a score on screen though haha
At half time I had to rewind to figure out wtf was going on

That was why I started marking the scores down in the first place! I knew the score was playing a part in the fortunes of both these teams. Had I not written the scores down and started watching in the 2nd half, you would have thought Spain had won, going by the reactions of both teams when fulltime sounded.

So yeah, very difficult to follow without a score and time on-screen. To think this only became a regular thing in 1997 here. However did we function watching footy on tv before then!?

Then they were dudded a couple of goals. Ref is only supposed to decide when touchies don't agree.

That is true. However, in this situation: Professional (neutral) ref, plus two (non-neutral) amateur TJ's, I have to say, I'm ok with it.

Common sense should always prevail, if it's a blatant mistake.

What part don't you understand?

I would have thought Russia & Spain would go in to separate pools in the next stage.

Assuming Italy were the 5th seed hence why they didn't get a shot this year, that means the seeding would essentially be:

A - 5,6,7
B - 3,4,8

The above official RLEF graphic directly contradicts this official RLEF tweet...

It is not the exact group. There will be 6 teams left, who will then be put into 2 separate groups. So Italy, Russia, Spain, is not one of the groups. They are just the first 3 of the 6 into the next phase.
