Don't think panthers will have anything like the season they did last year but they will win this one handedly.

Cowboys look like dog shit.
Sure it's a long shot, but there is no reason why Penrith can't have a season like last year's. It'll be pretty clear after a month or so whether we can come close to emulating 2020.

Panthers by 7 in a comeback

I can see us coming in thinking an easy win is on the cards and make a few mistakes to give the Cowboys a crack, then pull it together to take the game in the 2nd half.

Coen hess to hit the line at full soeed and still get dominated in the tackle from cleary

A quiet aside from veteran coach Wayne Bennett has set North Queensland's Coen Hess up for a return to his rampaging best in 2021.

Hess had been dropped by his club side at the back end of last season after a disappointing year for him and the Cowboys, but Bennett's faith in his ability sparked a reinvigorated approach for the 24-year-old forward.

"I'm picking you on what I know you're capable of," the wily Bennett told Hess when calling him up to Queensland's Origin fold in 2020, sparking a surge in confidence for a player who struggled for consistency last season.

Over seven years with the Cowboys Hess has been a pivotal metre-maker, particularly in his running game and rampant pursuit of opposition halves.

But concerns around form, coupled with a knee problem, meant he missed the final five games of a 2020 campaign in which the Cowboys won just five matches on their way to a 14th-place finish.

"For him to say that, with the calibre of coach he is, it gave me a lot of confidence and made me believe in myself more," Hess said.

"Last year I questioned myself a bit but for him to give me that kind of praise, I really took that on board."

"Even Mal (Meninga) and Neil (Henry) in the training camp ... I just tried to be a sponge and learn as much as I can off them."

The Cowboys second-rower has utilised that mentorship and applied it to his preparation for 2021, taking a more mature approach to the ups and down a season brings.

"They just really drilled into us how important it is to train at the intensity you play at, and that's what I've tried to bring back this year and really focus on in the pre-season," Hess said.

"When you do have those losses and wins it can be a bit of a rollercoaster."

"To have a playing group (where) everyone's committed, having fun and just enjoying our job, that'll go a long way this year."

We love you too ya dirty chode smoker.

It will be interesting to see if Payton can do the same as he did with the Warriors here.

The fitness of the Penrith Panthers will be a massive difference come the back end of the game.

Cows to start fast. Penrith to roll them in the second half.

Soc !

how the f**k are you mate ?

Payton is all we’ve changed other than recruiting Lachlan Burr and that merkin didn’t even make the team ffs

what’s that old saying about doing the same thing over and over and hoping for a different result

I hope I’m wrong and that we lift but in my balls I just don’t feel it

your boys look better than last year to me

the season you had last year is the stuff of NRL wet dreams although in the end you thought you were going to end up f**king the hot chick from school but ended up with Mary Jane Stinkifist strapping one on and pegging you in the GF

Good luck with the season ahead

Prepare for the Hess train :grinning::grinning:

I've been good mate, I hope all has been well with you too.

Last season was awesome for the most part, one of the most enjoyable I've experienced. The end was a bit of a shame, the hot chick was so ready you could almost smell it. At least good old Mary Jane gave us a bit of a half hearted reach around in the 2nd half, still could have done without the brutal pegging though. Ha ha. Maybe this year.

I think poor Rudolph will be longing for the tenderness of the Spandau shower block after big Billy has shown him who the true master race is.

Hess got belted by Addo Carr in origin last year pretty much sums him up.

but but Wayne Bennett believes in him and he soaked up knowledge from Mal like a well educated sanitary pad during origin

sure his origin was restricted to 29 whole metres gained but he’s training the f**king house down

you can’t doubt a man with that on his side
