Mitchell extends until at least the end of Season 2023: https://www.rabbitohs.com.au/news/2021/02/22/mitchell-extends-until-at-least-the-end-of-season-2023/

Fantastic news to come home to!! I jumped up out of my chair when the members email notification popped up! So ecstatic to finally have it all sorted, confirmed and we now how a genuine superstar, one of the best players in the game locked away for the next three years at least. You don't need me to tell you what Trell is capable of, we all know, the whole NRL knows. Huge re-signing for us!!

I also love hearing Latrell say how much he and his family love it here. Straight from the horses mouth, this is 'home'. So stoked!!

I think we defiantly need to have Benji as a 14, as he played very well, just to cover walker or cook if they are having an off game or are heavy marked or restricted from the opposition's game plan, spear ace up the sleeve .....maybe he can come on at the back end of the half, at 9 or a 13 position....

He doesn't even have to come on if there isn't a need for him but completely agree that he should be on the bench.

‘Long way from happening’ - Sticking point in Souths skipper’s contract talks: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...n/news-story/b40a89f939f53b34af5a47ad46202140

This is a wee bit concerning as it's not all smooth sailling with Reyno's contract as we expected it to be. Still, I'm sure it will get sorted, would just feel so wrong to see him pull on a different club's jersey. I can kind of see where he's coming from too, he's now reached legend status at the club and is our current captain so he kind of does deserve the deal that he wants. Let's hope a compromise can be made.

Sounds like term is the issue so should be fine imo.

Hopefully
But Souths have to think benji is 36 and still playing great, why can’t Reynolds?? He is our linchpin..
Without him a lot of our team don’t score, set up, run, get organised etc.. he should be our main focus???
Exactly Novo. The biggest thing with Reyno is every try we score is pretty much a guaranteed 6 pointer. For that reason alone the club should be making sure that he's going nowhere else.

Reynolds' future uncertain but Souths sure they're title contenders: https://www.nrl.com/news/2021/02/22...tain-but-souths-sure-theyre-title-contenders/

After thinking about it a bit for the past two hours, I've come to the conclusion that if Reyno wants three years, we MUST give it to him. Offer him two with an option in the club's favour at the very least. As I said, he has reached legendary status here and is our current captain so he kind of deserves to put some demands in for his next contract, he's earnt it. If we give him the term he wants of three years, then a compromise could be that he takes that pay cut (hopefully he'd agree to that), which would be make it easier to sign others too.

We all know that Reyno is our general, has been for years and will hopefully be for years to come. He's been the key to our success and for most of his whole career, when he hasn't been on the field we've looked loss. He's become an elite half and we absolutely MUST re-sign him.

Yes, a three year deal may mean some youngsters go, that will happen but if Reyno was to sign for an extra three years this year, that gives us four to three and a half years to create a succession plan so that we're ready for when our little champ retires. That's plenty of time and there's certainty on a transition date.

He is an absolute MUST re-sign. He bleeds Red and Green and is the heart and soul of the club. I'm sure Souths know this and will hopefully sort it out but these are my thoughts.

Goal to be No.1 remains in sight for Latrell after re-signing: https://www.rabbitohs.com.au/news/2...emains-in-sight-for-latrell-after-re-signing/

Souths great Sam Burgess arrested after allegedly failing roadside drug test: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...s/news-story/095313252c90b02916f5e13937487417

For god sake Sam! What is he thinking at the moment?!!!

Agree totally about Reyno Callmack. As far as Sam goes, I'm willing to cut him a little slack. He had the pressures of the court case and now George is in hospital. Still wish he hadn't done it, but I can understand why he probably wasn't thinking straight.

Yea certainly understandable and there are some suggestions he wasn't under the influence of the drug at the time but it was still in his system (drugs like Cocaine can remain for a while). Not excuses though, it's still not a good look.

Keen to get Reyno sorted ASAP..
A good point to consider is that if he has a major injury (which god forbid he doesn’t) how long will he take to get back and will he be as good as he was when he does. He does have a history with injuries and he has got a back that plays up a lot. He doesn’t run the footy a lot anymore also
But you can’t underestimate his voice, organisation, kicking game and goal kicking out on the field.
He is easily in the top 3 halfs in the comp

As far as Renno goes, he is as elite as they come and I agree he’s top 3 per @NovoBunny94 and in some games, let’s face it, you’d prefer him to any other player in the game -let alone half! ( reference: Sou v sgi finals 2018).

I’d sack any recruiter who isn’t on the phone to him bar a couple. I can see at least half a dozen clubs offering him the world and I’m talking up of 750k

But with all the posturing, he has to think about entry into the annals of the South Sydney legends and what that means for the rest of his life.

I can’t see him listening to anything less than 700. He’s still very powerful.

Yep. Another point to consider is he grew up across from Redfern oval and I’d say he considers himself a one club, junior and Souths through and through. But you never know these days..

Good point Silverdale, innocent until proven guilty.

Yes.

The sample is still being being tested.

The detection equipment is very very sensitive.

A very small trace amount may mean that it made its way to him through the air or via a surface (or kiss!) and that he doesn’t know anything about it.

It could so small an amount not to impact his senses or effect him.

So we should give him the benefit.

He was on his way to collect the kids, I have strong doubts he’s snorting away and would place them at risk.

Whatever social rascal he may be, I think he loves his kids. He’s fought hard for them.

And 7% of people are found to be not guilty!
