To lighten the mood: a Souths story by tsp:

Tsp reporting from Redfern tonight. We are here live outside of Souths hq where the ar discussions now enter their 14th hour.

Right in front of me I can see a crowd, maybe 3 or 4000 people, some holding candles and pictures of AR. Some are crying, others are praying. A scene of tremendous emotion.

There’s a song from a local hippy band “ root the roosters”.

“ Come Solly and Ellison wherever you roam. And admit that our Adam calls Redfern his home.

A few blocks away whilst driving in I saw a few cars with Qld plates and one from Victoria.

On the corner, a few street vendors are doing a brisk trade selling hot dogs and ice creams. One is selling chocolate locusts on a stick like I saw in Beijing once ( true!). Nutritious for sure.

Over yonder I can see a small shrine to “Richo the Buddha” with a few topless people gathered around burning cash notes on the immortal flame, that’s been burning since he left.

Theres a mobile tab van of course, and I can see plenty of markets there as to no deal, 1 year, 2 year, who will sign any contract first and who will breach first too.

Over to my right I can just make out, hang on, it’s a light. A very bright light and what looks the ( gasp) two large ears. O my Lord Mercy, it’s standing 80 no 90 metres high. It’s in the middle of Redfern oval and it’s, I kid you not, some kind of Giant Robotic Reggie Rabbit....

His paw, he’s reaching out and I can see a thing he’s holding, it’s horrible, oh the humanity....and......

A disgraceful decision from our club.

Our cap management must be very poor if you can’t plan to look after your inspirational Captain and heart and soul of the team.

Well done Solly and Pappas a knucklehead disgraceful decision hang your heads in shame. You have given our club a bad name for mine. Come on down Souths juniors you can win a premiership be our captain and inspiration but at 30 you can go!!! A f**king disgrace!!

It’s pretty ordinary, I think he’d be the last player I would stand up at the altar based on ability.

As you saw, us fans really love him at the Wests Tigers. We see his value clearly and succinctly.

No hesitation or shrugging of shoulders. He’s awesome.

You will be very lucky if his replacement is half as good. You’d raise your fist in happiness.

If you had Brooks, you’d know what I am talking about. We don’t even know when he’s going to turn up. It’s hard and week in and week out ....it’s a bit depressing. “Frustrating” doesn’t do the experience justice. Maybe that’s as high as it gets.

If hame is not at 100% fitness I'd use tautau moga instead moga could cover in the backs/forwards if need be he is a big boy these days even though he is predominently a back....tautau moga has been a stand out at training along with Patrick mago over the past few months since pre season began....

But its Good to see hame sele at 18th man on the team list I hope he gets picked as 18th man for tomorrow.

Reynolds obviously feels like he can get a better deal elsewhere so let him go. His family isn't going to starve. This isn't some sob story where souths are cutting him off financially. Reynolds has decided that he would rather be comfortable than back his ability.

I dont understand how youre shitting on the club when Reynolds is digging his own grave? Souths would 100% have a post career plan for Reynolds if he stayed (maybe even if he leaved).

If anyone is purposely sabotaging the season its Adam Reynolds going to the media rather than just sorting it out.

I couldnt say it better myself, he has been offered a deal,its up to him if he loves the club so much,back himself, everyone is saying stupid things,shit on a shovel etc etc, bullS__T!! These are tactics designed to bend the club over, and i for 1 dont like it, shut up,if you cant bear to go sign, its not as if we havent offered him a deal. This happened at the broncos with thiaday,parker and others,they took the 1 year reduced deals. A decision must be made for the good of the CLUB! Its a business, youngsters must be brought in, before they leave for clubs dieing for halves. Grow up!! This whining is getting rediculous, we support the rabbitohs! Not individual players trying to coerse and stiff arm us at the detriment of the club.
Ill say it again for those who dont understand, he has been offered a deal, take it leave it its his decision,his decision, not the clubs, who have more players to look after.

They've offered him a deal.

Rather than merely focusing on the potential loss of one player, look at the good the club is doing in preparing for the future? Some other clubs would kill to have the roster Souths have right now, as well as talent coming through in important positions. Apart from Mitchell, the rest of the spine is 30+. They've been great for the club, but they aren't going to be around forever. The club is looking 3 to 4 years down the track when these blokes are in their mid-30s and on the way out. Otherwise you and other supporters will be harping on about how the club should have realised these guys will be retiring at the same time and planned for their succession. The clubs is doing this now!!

Sutts played out his career on one-year contracts. Reyno should back himself and do same. The club is managing his loads and keeping him on the field. There is no guarantee other clubs will do same. They'll expect a new player on big coin to set the standard on the training paddock, not cotton-wooled.

Rather than keep all of it in-house, Reyno (more likely his manager) has gone off into the media to play the game. I'm glad Souths have stood up to this rather than pander to agent extortion. If they give in, then other players/agents will do same. Stand up to these merkins for good of the future of the club!

In saying all of this i don't blame Reynolds for being greedy i just think its silly to shit on the club. Footballers only have a short career. I do think Adam is one of those exceptions who could do well in the media post football because he's a funny bloke.

As much as losing Reyno is a huge blow to me, what is more worrying is seeing Souths fans at each others throats. At the end of the day we all want what is best for the club, the fact that we have different ideas about what that is shouldn't matter. We need to come together and respect the fact that we all care deeply about Souths.

Well I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. Is Reynolds doing the same training 5 days a week like the rest of the squad? I find that highly unlikely but as a club we've obviously found ways around it and how to get him to optimal playing fitness.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Who would've knew Gagai would become a top quality NRL centre? Who would've thought a few years ago that we would sign Jai Arrow and Latrell Mitchell?

Its not easy 'planning ahead' as you say.
