All I wanted was the club to try and work something out and they have done that now. As you said Callmack it's Reynos decision to turn it down, but I feel a helluva lot better about the clubs actions. Hopefully Reyno will think about it and reconsider but I'm not holding out hope.
I don’t feel better we needed to plan our cap better a couple of years ago and Reyno our star halfback should’ve been at the top of the list! Spoke to my 2 mates today who I work with one a Burrow member and one a 3 game member they’re both disgusted and think it’s a bad look for the club especially after all Adam has done for us

Mate, I'm just trying to be objective about it. My main gripe was the club didn't seem prepared to compromise but they have done that now. I have to give them credit for that.

A 1 year deal with the option for a second in the clubs favour is still a 1 year deal.

We're told that it's because the club don't want a repeat of GI/Sam type payouts but an option in the players favour takes care of that.

If it is because the club don't want to be committed to AR and hold back upcoming halves, then AR has every right to be unhappy with 1 year offers.

There is a transition period coming inside three years time like it or not. This could just be the beginning.

Reynolds to ramp up Cowboys, rival talks after latest Souths stalemate: https://www.nrl.com/news/2021/04/07...ys-rival-talks-after-latest-souths-stalemate/

Souths put a two-year deal with an option to Reynolds, but it wasn’t enough: https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/so...ion-but-it-wasn-t-enough-20210407-p57ha2.html

Wow, so the club has really tried to come to the party here and offered him a two year deal today (albeit withe the second being an option in the club's favour), but Reyno has knocked it back. Well, that's his decision now. I believe the club has now done everything they could to keep him but Reyno has still decided to turn it down. There's always hope while this new offer is still on the table but I now no longer see how we can keep him sadly.

A "2 year deal" with the 2nd year an option in the club's favour is not a 2 year deal, it's a one year deal.

The club already said they haven't got money under the cap to give Adam a two year deal.

The club put out the propaganda to the media that they've got $2mil to spend on 16 players. So how can a 2nd year club option be counted as an extra year? It can't, they'll cut him because they themselves said they don't have the money in the cap.

We can’t win the comp without Reyno and a rookie halfback mark my words. Our window closes 2 years early.

We must have players on overs to have cap issues.

Arrow is going well but 800k to play off the bench is overs.

I would have said let’s look after Reyno before buying Arrow.
Arrow was bought using Sam's money so it's not his fault.

But we've signed guys to longer term contracts that are overs (Knight) or IMO not sure they should have signed them for more than 2 years (Cartwright, Host, maybe even Tatola)

I get that Host is probably to cover Sua probably leaving, but why Cartwright for 3 years? He ain't that special.

Tatola I would have given him 2 + CO on the third, but I don't know the money he gets on the third year so its hard to criticise but I worry he could be in regression by then.

And signing broken down guys that I told you weren't going to play (Milne) hasn't helped, but I'm now wondering if the club were expecting 2 years ago that Adam would be off the books by end of 2022. The way the roster is currently constructed, it looks that way to me.

Bennett today in his presser said if he was staying he’d wanna keep Reyno and that it’s very hard to find a halfback and develop them to Reyno’s level, along those lines.
Then Adam should take the year deal then go join Wayne at the new club in Brisbane 2023

Also looking ahead, is Cody gonna get the same deal as Adam (1 year) or are they gonna give him 2 years.

Either way they are facing a black eye. A one year deal means Cody will most likely be gone after next year, leaving us with very inexperienced players in the 2 most important positions, and Latrell might not wanna stay. If they give Cody a 2 year deal, they gonna get hammered for not having done the same with Adam.

The only soothing sweetner is a GF win this year. I hope so, and it better happen because otherwise it aint gonna look pretty moving foward
