Sorry, i’m not getting it.
Why is this result a bad thing?
The Nah sayers will say its a final of Aust A V Aust B, there's only 3 players in the Samoan team that were born there...most are Aussies.
It would have been great for the game over there if England won. It would have been great seeing the final in a loud packed Old Traford, we'll probably have alot of empty seats with out England playing.

Let’s face it, England in the final might have got on the back page of the London papers but wouldn’t have done anything to advance RL past the M62. Nothing has done that since 1895

A Samoan win, even if they all live in Penrith has pushed the game forward in the Pacific.

Union is the real loser.

Oh my lord, I’m not getting into an argument with you..I see your spats with posters like PR and honestly wonder if you are actually an adult?

My post that explained my thoughts stands. Our Business has concluded moving on..
Post something even slightly practical & you won't get called out
PR is a wanker in every thread he posts in & gets exactly what he deserves ..

Hopefully Mal drops Grant for the final his service is f**king awful. Hunt is a far better option and will have no issue playing 80

Yes. Now I have a team to support in the final, Eng v Oz would have been a boring watch for a neutral.

With the loose rugby league eligibility rules surely the Kiwis can loan Samoa our Kiwi-Samoans for this match? Especially as they'll likely be down a prop.

Has having more Origin experience helped Samoa here over England.

Interesting food for thought moving forward but the crossroads may been reached with deciding tier 1 and tier 2 status for Tonga and Samoa.

I don't think NZ and England will be impressed these players from Samoa and Tonga get the added advantage of double dipping with Origin and there heritage nation. But can't do it if they want to play for England or NZ.

I would rather those blokes play for Samoa anyway then NSW. Pick blokes who want to wear the NSW jersey and would bleed for it just like QLD players do.
All players who elected to play for countries other than Australia for this World Cup should be red penned for Origin selection moving forward. Instead they should work on creating their own football culture and identity for their countries. Origin is used as Australia’s selection trial, they need something similar to be competitive.

With the player pool at over 50% Islanders and ever increasing that would mean the death of Origin. Which is fine by me as I much prefer internationals

This argument is ridiculous, you're basically forcing players to play for Australia when they don't want to.
No player is going to choose Samoa over NSW while they get paid .. what ? 30k a game ? You're asking them to give up about 300k over thier careers.
The days of SOO being a selection for the Kangaroos is a very 1995 mentality, in fact Origin itself is very outdated, it was formed when we had no one to play internationally and those days are gone, it's no longer the best Vs the best.
Having said that, I don't understand why it's so hard for some people to wrap thier heads around the fact players can be passionate about playing for NSW and Samoa. They are proud of where they were born and proud of thier Samoan bloodline.

Should open it up to NZ under this criteria. 😉

Agreed. Scrap Origin or reduce it to one game a year like 80-81. It's boring compared to what we've seen this weekend.
