Middle defence no middle attack yes guys like Martin capewell just do not want to do any hard work .our game realises heavily on owning the middle and getting that roll on

I am going to call BS on the Martin criticism. He made a shit ton of metres down the right hand edge and into traffic as well. No soft carries - he was great and owns that right edge. I do not want to see him in the middle at least for the next season or 2.

Capewell is a great edge defender but offers very little in terms of hard carries.

I'm not that worried about our form based on this game which is of little consequence really. The Tigers aimed up for us because they think we're rivals but the feeling isn't exactly mutual and in reality their planning their 10th straight pre finals Mad Monday while we're headed for another finals campaign.

We have had a habit in the second half of the season of putting in average performances and just doing enough to win against ordinary teams i.e. against Warriors, Broncos and even against the Dragons we weren't that good. Every game from now on is against a finals team so we should see far more focused performances from now on.

Only positives today. No injuries. And kiks was beast mode.

1. Edwards 6.5/10- tough game for a fb with it blowing an absolute gale. He had a few avg momemts but was very strong bringing the ball back.
2. Too- 9/10/10- missed a few oppurtunities. But god he was strong bringing the ball back.
3. Burton- 7/10- really strong in attack and defence. Love how straight he runs it.
4. Momo- 6.5/10- solid without anything brilliant.
5. Critta- 7/10- solid. Good decisions in defence. Dangerous bringing the ball back.
6. Luai- 6.5/10- few stupid moments. First 30mins in second half was his best since origin. Hopefully abit of confidence back before the finals.
7. Nathan- 6.5/10- struggled with his kicking and handling. Had a couple tough good runs. Not all bad.
8. Leota- 6.5/10- started really strong. Really good carries. Good try but really poor d by him for there first try.
9. Api- 6.5/10- quiet game by api. Didnt do anything wrong but failed to really have an influence.
10. Fish 6.5/10- same as api. Pretty quiet by his standards.
11. Martin- 7.5/10- really strong game by him. Loved him getting into brooks.
12. Capes- 6.5/10- solid in d..quiet in attack.
13. Yeo- 7.5/10- lost direction when he went off. Was really good today. Constantly got us on the front foot.

14. May- 6/10- really doesnt add much at all. Literally there for an injury.
15. Tpj- 7.5/10- lost a point for letting in a try at marker. Otherwise was really good.
16. Kikau- 9/10- wow!!! God hes coming into form at the right time.. one of his best games in a long time.
17. Sorensen 6.5/10- solid but no one of his better games.

I thought we tried to score off every play.. nath and luai have been soo good at getting set restarts all year.no idea why theyve gone away from that.

Overall o injuries or suspensions is the main thing. There was good signs. We just executed really poorly.

Gotta give credit to the tigers. They turned up willing to fight and they tried there best.

100%. So much better on the edge. Was brilliant there today and got quick plsy the balls all day.

Clearly the best thing about this game is Kikau hitting close to top form and also discovering the TPJ, Kikau 1 - 2 Combo.

To'o being back to his 200+ metre best was great as well and Critta getting more involved on the wing was pleasing as well.

Most of the rest was forgettable.

Anyway, despite our halves not having their best day, I'm way more concerned about our defence. Their first and second tries were extremely soft and we've been good for a very poor lapse in concentration in the middle a couple of times a game for a while now. There doesn't appear to be a single offender either. It was Leota, TPJ and Api today, but Kenny and even Yeo and Fish have had moments in the last couple months. It won't cut it against Melbourne.

It was so good to see Too back without missing a beat and agree with others who were wrapping Kikau. Hes having an excellent month. Very happy to see no injuries too.

Tigers didn't just roll over which is probably what we need at this stage of the year. Hopefully the cobwebs are well and truly blown out now.

Nate had a poor outing given his standard. If he wears those oven mitts on in the finals, you won’t make it.

He’s too critical.

The Storm usually punish dropped balls with a try out wide.

At least the Panthers will feature in the finals. Also, he had an off day, so what? We all do.

You struggled against our third tier side who barely know how to pass, let alone score.

Some composure and quiet reflection is due young Dinky.

If this is what Ivan thinks is appropriate, you will have a very short and forgettable finals campaign.

Nate seems injured and unstable. That’s got to be of some concern to all ardent smugdelphians. It worries me a bit.

Your team celebrated like you won the grand final, when you defeated our depleted side, which was missing 7 players. Lol.

I'd like to see Staines back against a bottom 8 team to see if whatever's been the issue has been rectified. if he's still not doing what Ivan see's a necessary then you can make a decision before finals and play the top 17 round 25.
I think Staines just needs bulking up (a little) and strengthening. That can't happen in the space of a week.

I accidently liked your post...anyway...not really valid to say that...prior to that game Ivan stated that the system was in place to power on without the missing......tigers celebrated a win...so what

I don’t think today’s Panthers performance was especially worthy of a good smugging out young Dinky.

To only just beat out the third grade Tiger side (mostly thanks to our errors and a flaccid Nate) is not exactly “smug porn” my little friend.

Good to see some Queenslanders hating. Felt like home. We need a 6th ground.
