2021 season

Even the season he scored a lot of tries, it was mostly just catch and fall over the line. Souths let him go right after.

He’s fine as a back up, but I’d be stunned if he could regularly hold down a FG spot.

He is a specialist winger now. He is the type of player that will be in the 21 named Tuesday but rarely in the 17

Naden has been the big improver at Training. Unless he is suspended he plays in Round 1

Since they have been back Naden and Edwards have topped the training drills. Part of the reason that Whare is being moved on

Looks like rehab has had a positive affect atleast in the short term

If true he'll be a beast. Was already big, strong.

He has a lot to be grateful for. I mean a couple years ago he was struggling to get a reserve grade contract and Gus threw him one, he probably thought he wasn’t going to make it to the nrl and then he almost blows it by taking coke the night before a gf only to get an incredibly light punishment. If that isn’t going to wake him up nothing will.

This part stood out to me. The fact they have a "work hard or get left behind" attitude going on is great to see.

https://www.penrithpanthers.com.au/news/2021/02/04/eisenhuth-reinvigorated-by-panthers-return/

Penrith recruit Matt Eisenhuth says he's already felt a level of confidence at the Panthers that he couldn't find during his four-years with Wests Tigers.

The 28-year-old will reunite with Ivan Cleary this season after the Panthers coach walked away from his Wests Tigers contract in 2018, the same year Eisenhuth signed an extension with the joint venture.

The departure of middle forwards James Tamou and Zane Tetevano in the off-season opened the door for Eisenhuth to push for a first-grade spot after he linked with his former club on a two-year deal in October.

"The standard is a lot higher than what I'm used to, to be fair, but it's exciting," Eisenhuth told NRL.com.

"The players are just a bit more confident because they know where they've been and if you're not ready to go you get left behind.

Good to hear. I think Matty could be quite a good signing as a bench player if we can get a bit of improvement out of him.

To be fair to the Tigers, I don't think Maguire sets low standards, quite the opposite. The trouble you have is how you overturn low standards that have been set over many years and are present through every level of the organisation. he cannot change that on his own. It has to start at the top. Low standards in the back office will manifest itself in low standards in the front office eg. on the field.

I think that is exactly where we were when Gus came on board. Mediocrity at every level. He started the process of setting the standards, remember him forcing Jennings to give out tickets after turning out drunk at training? He couldn't have done that without the support of the board. It takes a long time to turn that round, measured in years not months.

And it needs to start with the management. We've had different coaches and made plenty of mistakes in terms of recruitment and retention since Gus came on board but what we have had is Gus and then Cameron all working towards the same goal, produce most of our own players and be a club they want to play at, a community club that fans are proud of. The tigers seem to be heading in the right direction with their football department but its been a while since they really had a plan they were trying to work towards.

On panthers website there is stills from the Channel 9 pre season publicity shoot one of the stills has the (I guess) 13 starting first grade players plus Ivan Crichton’s center partner is hidden by the trophy. Any guesses on whose ears they are.
Don’t forget junior reps on Saturday at Penny Park against South.

At first I thought it might be Capewell but there are 6 forwards already.
So my best guess would be May.

Looks like Capewell to me too. I wouldn’t read too much into this though, every chance the club was asked to not include Naden in this type of stuff because of the suspension and replacing him with Capewell makes sense after everybody would have taken a bit more notice of Capey during the Origin series.
